Super stinky feet - what to do?

My ODS - who is 4yo - has developed quite stinky feet. His sandals smell, his socks and even after he takes a bath, they still have an odor. What can we do to help with this while taking a bath and when he's wearing his shoes?

Cotton balls and vinegar between the toes before the bath. This should help kill the odor and any lingering bacteria. Then after the bath, make sure to always dry REALLY good between the toes. When moisture is left behind, or anything for that matter (i.e. powder, which can turn to liquid once the feet sweat), bacteria can multiply and fester, causing the odor. Also try vinegaring his shoes and washing his socks with bleach.

Good Luck

I wash our shoes twice, once with soap and once with soap and vinegar. Wearing socks with shoes also helps the socks soak up the stink rather than the shoes. If you aren't sure if he is soaping his feet well in the shower you might consider having him take a nightly foot bath or using a baby wipe on his feet to make sure they get clean.

Have you tried this http://www.thecrystal.com/ or something similar? I had a cousin who always ALWAYS had stinky feet as a kid. Her mom had a lot of success with a similar product (I think hers was just a big rock that came in a bag but it's pretty much the same stuff).

Soak his feet in warm black tea for a few minutes.
I don't know why but it is something my grandmother told me and I researched it and it actually works.

Right on. Thanks for all of the tips. I'll certainly give them a try!

You could try ACV soaks and sun his shoes. This is what I've done after dd wears keens - which I will never by again purely bc of the stink.
