Did I get the right fertilizer?

I am a new gardener so when I purchased fertilizer for the garden I bought what was suggested. The employee at the garden shop suggested Marine Cuisine Seafood for Your Garden 10-7-7 Time Release Fertilizer and Foxfarm Big Bloom Concentrate to supplement after the plants begin to fruit. I was just reading the packages and noticed the Marine Cuisine says "for evergreens, acid loving plants & vegetables." Is this the proper fertilizer for a vegetable and flower garden?

To be honest I am not sure what to do with it - do I add it to the soil when I plant each plant? do I dig it down and put it with the roots? at the top?

The fertilizer is fine for veggies and flowers. I usually like to just spread the fertilizer on the top of the soil, then till or rake it in so that it doesn't blow away. You can put a little in under the plants when you plant them, but don't put too much or it can actually burn the roots. For the later one, just spread it around near (but not touching) your plants and cover with a little mulch or gently rake it into the top of the soil. Easy!

Sounds good, exept you may want to test your soil's Ph after application to make sure it's still in a good range for what you are growing. Too acid is easy to fix though with lime.
