My DS will be 5 in July. He is normally a big eater. Here are a couple of days worth of food...

Day 1 (today)
B - Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes my DH made, Banana
L - Ham & Cheese Sandwich with tomatoes, mayo, and lettuce, Pickle, and a Pear
S - Greek Yogurt, Pineapple, Banana
D - He wasn't feeling good and has a fever so he didn't want to eat much, he just had some fruit (pears)

Day 2 (yesterday)
B - Eggs topped with cheese, Canteloupe
L - Couscous and mixed steamed veggies, strawberries after that
S - Homemade banana bread muffins
D - Lentil soft Tacos with avocado, tomatoes, sour cream and then a pear

Day 3
B - Oatmeal with blueberries and a pear
L - Ham & Cheese sandwich on wheat with tomatoes, grapes (normally he doesn't eat sandwiches but leftovers from dinner the night before so it includes veggies and stuff but twice this week we haven't had any leftovers to serve)
S - Homemade banana bread muffins
D - Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and Broccoli (he ate 2 plates of this)

I can give more if you need it, due to having a food journal for him.

As background, I don't cater to the kids' preferences. There are limited options for breakfast & lunch, b/c those are more casual meals, there is no choice @ dinner, and snacks are modest. For dinner, they must have some protein before they get to the veggies & starch. The portions here are pretty modest. Here's a typical day for my 5 yo:

Breakfast: Zone bar, serving of plain yogurt with honey & fruit or granola, water

snack: Kefir (I buy a bottle of strawberry & a bottle of plain & mix them to cut down on the sugar)

lunch: open face melted cheese sandwich, fruit, water

snack: carrots & pepperoni

dinner: broiled salmon w/shallot & mustard sauce, chopped salad, sauteed haricot vert, 1/2 baked potato w/sour cream

Other standard lunch options are cottage cheese mixed with fruit, quesadilla with cold cuts, leftovers

For breakfast, sometimes instead of yogurt she'll have a small bowl of Trader Joe's brand cheerios alongside her zone bar

Other recent dinner entrees include roast chicken, leek quiche w/a potato crust, brioled Mahi Mahi, pasta amatriciana (pasta is usually less than once a week, I try not to overdo it)

My son is 5 -- this is what he ate today:

B: hard boiled egg chopped with a little salt; banana; strawberries

S: cheese stick; clif kids energy bar

L: pepperoni pizza; blueberries; veggie straws (kind of like chips)

S: raisins; yogurt

D: roasted chicken; asparagus

S: gummi bears

Does your daughter like eggs? Eggs are such a great source of protein and fat - my kids love them hard boiled or fried in butter. My kids eat a lot between meals, so I try to have healthy snack stuff around like full fat yogurt, cheese sticks, fruit, carrots and broccoli w/ranch dressing, etc.

DD is 5.5yo and is generally a good eater. Here is a typical day:

Breakfast: either a sandwich with butter and herbs (she's wierd) or peanut butter, oatmeal or sometime cold cereal (plain Os)

Two Snacks (mid-morning and mid-afternoon), a combo of 2 of the following: cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit, dried fruit, milk, crackers, "healthy" chips, nuts, sometimes juice or yogurt drink, sometimes a cookie or other small sweet

Lunch: homemade mac & cheese or other pasta (usually with veggies and/or protein mixed in), rice and fish, peanut butter sandwich, always served with fresh fruit, milk, and maybe one snacky thing

Dinner: we eat a huge variety that involves a protein, a starch and a veggie - last night it was WW pasta shells with cheese/spinach/pesto sauce, the previous night it was salmon with rice and green beans, cooked with Thai seasoning. We usually have our fruit after dinner, though sometimes DD has it before dinner if she is hungry and can't wait (or she gets another snacky thing from the list above). Some nights we do smoothies for fruit/dessert.

Bedtime snack: cheese or small bowl of cold cereal - the bedtime snack is more ritual than anything else so I keep it small.

Yesterday DS ate:

Breakfast: whole wheat waffles w/Earth Balance, wild blueberry jam and maple syrup
apple slices

Snack: Lara Bar and a banana

Lunch: WW Pasta & sauce (I puree veggies and mix it with the sauce)
1/2 sweet potato

Snack: bowl of mixed, dry cereals (whole grain O's or flakes). He finger picks at them throughout the day

Dinner: Curry Couscous w/beans and tempeh sauteed in coconut milk w/diced kale and peas

-He will also drink water and some kind of plant based milk throughout the day.

-We are vegan and most of DS's foods center around whole grains, beans, veggies & fruits, tempeh, tofu, etc. He'll also snack on coconut milk yogurts, avocado, nut butters, etc. to get some good fats in there.

Dd is older now, but she pretty much eats as she always has. She's not picky at all. She has a food intolerance and is on a modified Feingold diet. She has to eat whole food from scratch and the little bit of processed food she eats has to be all natural, so that makes a difference. As much as possible is organic. This is what she had yesterday and today

Breakfast... I hate to say she won't eat breakfast. She needs a couple of hours to be awake before she can start eating.

Morning snack (aka brunch): super sharp Tilamook cheddar and apples
Lunch: (organic) whole wheat bagel w/ cream cheese, raw broccoli, strawberry/blackberry fruit combo, all-natural (not organic) pretzels, Horizon yogurt tube, milk
Dinner: Homemade BBQ pizza (from scratch) with grilled chicken, onions, cilantro, smoked gouda, and mozzarella (not organic)
Snack: apple and homemade fruit popsicle (strawberry, blackberry, half-n-half blended into a smoothie and frozen), raw veg as she wants

Morning snack: banana, yogurt
Lunch: ww pita panini with all-natural (nitrite-free) turkey, super sharp Tilamook, and lettuce, mini dill pickles, all-natural potato chips, dried strawberries, milk
Snack: fruit and veg as she wants
Dinner: Cheese and onion enchiladas, everything homemade, spanish rice with lots of vegetables (with white rice... dh is middle eastern and prefers white over brown ), homemade corn masa cake, crepes stuffed with Nutella (yeah ) and topped with homemade strawberry sauce (I can this)

Dd. almost 4. She's basically a grazer. I try to limit her to one milk and 1-2 almond milks a day. Other than that, I make sure she eats fruits and veggies and some meat every day. She doesn't eat cookies or other sweets unless I make them and I don't do that very often. Though when we are at other peoples houses she does get cookies and stuff, but then again it's not very often. She doesn't drink a lot of juice. Once in a while only.

Breakfast: organic while milk w/tsp chocolate Ovaltine
organic raisins
some other fruit (mango, banana, etc.)
sometimes boiled or cooked eggs

Snacks: some mix of this
nuts
cheese/crackers
almond milk
boiled eggs

Lunch:
1/2 whole wheat turkey and cheese sandwich
small amount chips
sometimes sliced fruit (pears or apples)
nuts (cashews or almonds)

Snacks:
almond milk sometimes
more fruit
those "organic" lollipops. I laugh when I type this but they don't have hfcs and they use fruit puree when making it.

Dinner:
Whatever I cook. usually either chicken, turkey, or fish/seafood w/vegetables. Sometimes I add pasta/rice .

Dessert:
maybe 2x a week we get ice cream for dessert.

My overall impression of dd's diet: I really wish she would drink my green smoothie with me in the morning. I need to get more green leafy veggies into her. I wish she would eat eggs more. She doesn't like meat so I have to work hard on that dept. I have had to limit her milk intake quite a bit. She used to want to drink 27oz of cows milk a day. Now she can have 9oz cows milk (occasionally I let her have another 9oz) and up to 18oz of almond milk. I don't like to let her snack after 4pm because then she won't eat dinner. So if she complains a lot at that time, I let her snack on raw carrots or veggies and drink water.
