My little guy is starting to fight going down for naps. I'm curious when everyone else's LOs cut out all but one nap a day.

I seem to remember that it was at about 14 months. She dropped her afternoon nap and her one nap became longer. We slowly moved it later in the day so she wasn't sleeping through lunch.

DS dropped to one nap around 10 months old. He kept his morning nap, from 10-12 or so, and started going to bed around 6-7. He woke up for the day around 5-6. He has gradually moved his nap later and later, now he usually naps from 1-3 (though lately he has only been taking 1-1.5 hour naps) and is in bed around 9, still up around 6 AM.

She had only one nap off and on from about 14 months, but didn't drop the second nap entirely until near 18 months.

DD dropped it gradually between 10.5 and 11.5 months. She started taking one long nap beginning anywhere from 10:15ish. Now at 17 months she goes down for her nap between 11 and 11:30 and sleeps between 1 and 2.5 hours usually.

Both of mine dropped it right around their first birthdays.

Shortly after she turned one. I actually encouraged it, because she was so difficult to get down and keep asleep that my entire day revolved around her naps and I found it near impossible to get anything done!

She still naps once a day at 28 months, but I think is moving towards dropping that now too.

Around 9 or 10 months, I think.

She sleeps through the night now (she is 12 months and night weaned), about 7 pm to 6 am. She naps from about 10:30 to 12:30.

My daughter started struggling with two naps somewhere around eight months old but she was nowhere near able to stay awake long enough to cut out a nap. She just got harder and harder to get down for naps and her bedtime kept drifting later. FINALLY last week she finished a huge developmental leap and now can make it to a nap time between 11 and 12. She sleeps for about two hours but just two weeks ago there was absolutely no possibility of her sleeping that long no matter how long I kept her awake beforehand.

Shortly after his first birthday. He still takes one 2-3 hour nap every day in the early afternoon.

DD1 was ten months old. She dropped napping entirely at 2 years old.

The twins were about 15 months old, and even then DS had a hard time staying awake until naptime. Even now at three years old, he still sometimes takes a ten minute snooze in the morning, and then a full nap in the afternoon. DD2 gave up the morning nap easily at 15 months, and now at three years old still needs an afternoon nap.

So I think it varies a lot. A lot depends, too, on how long the LO sleeps at night. DD1 slept long, sound nights, so it was easier for her to do without two naps. DS, on the other hand, was a nurse-every-45-minutes-all-night kid, and rarely slept past 6 am, so he really NEEDED his naps badly. DD2 was somewhere in the middle.

I cut morning naps when it got too difficult to get them to sleep so early. I'd say try it, if the morning nap has become a fight, but push the afternoon nap up a little, like to just after lunchtime. That's what we always did, and it worked well.

DS stopped napping twice a day right around 18 months. He first started napping only in the morning, and then we gradually moved it back in the day.

DD is 12 months and still takes two (or three) naps a day, depending on the day. She really has no schedule other than, "she looks tired, she should nap!". I have sleepy kids, I guess!

The only ones I can remember right now are my youngest two. They slowly transitioned to one nap in the 15-18 month age range. I think my older two were closer to 12 months.

I only remember ds2 being 9mos. I remember that I thought it was crazy early, but I was glad because I had a 2yo who also took one nap and we were able to synch up.

I am babysitting a 16mo right now, who I can't get to drop a nap. She still takes 2 naps of 1-2 hours each!

DD was 10 months when she dropped to 1 nap. At first it was 12-2 and now it's 1-3.

DS dropped to one at 18mo. DD dropped to one at 12mo.

My son is almost 14 months and we've been transitioning for a month or so. He currently takes one nap about 5 days out of the week, but some days he wakes too early in the morning or goes to bed too late and needs an extra nap. Or other days he goes to sleep too early in the day, takes a quick 20 minute nap, then needs a longer nap in the afternoon. We just follow his cues and put him to sleep when he's tired, but it's tough. I'd say the 2 to 1 nap transition has been pretty hard on my son, harder than on most kids by the sound of other parent's experiences.

My ds was 5months. He quit napping all-together between 12-15months (would nap every other day for a while, then once every few days, down to nothing!).

Now he is almost 3 and doesnt even fall asleep in the car. He sleeps about 9-11 hours a day total all at night, which is close to what I need to sleep!

Aparantly I was the same way as a little one.
