Organizing CDs

I am trying to organize my Cds I have quite a few. Some I haven't listened in quite a while. I need some tips so please assist.

I've once sorted ours according to the alphabet and after style (classical / rock / children). It helped me find things a lot easier.
My husband just pust our DVDs in 3ring binders with special CD "pages" - that could work, too. (With that method, you'd earn a lot of space but you'd lose the cases. For CDs, that might not be good because of song texts etc.)

We moved ours into a 3-ring CD binder case that zips...we put the paper inserts in there with the CDs. We move so often that it is the best way for us (although honestly we do not even listen to them anymore, so I should do something with them).

DH is working on a long term project of copying all of our music onto a computer hard drive with the intent of getting rid of all oour cds some day. They are currently in 3 ring binders. We did save the jewel cases so they can be sold someday.
