What do you serve your preschooler for lunch? (And do they eat it?) I am all out of ideas for my 4yo ds. He is not keen on sandwiches, but will eat one at a push, but other ideas would be helpful!

DS1 likes pb & J and occasionally a grilled cheese sandwhich, but mostly we too do snack lunches - canned peaches, apple slices, apple sauce, orange slices, celery sticks, broccoli, crackers, cheese, pepperoni, etc. Or we'll occasionally do macaroni & cheese or chicken noodle soup or chicken nuggets...

DD is not keen on plain sandwich bread but will happily eat bagels, toasted muffins or tortillas with the same filling. It does amuse me that if I put a plate of slices meats and salad on the table they will both make sandwiches, if I put out ready made sandwiches the don't eat them
Cheese/Beans/Scrambled eggs and toast are all popular
Soup is a bit hit and miss, they liked canned tomato but I don't like them to have it too often.
Quiche is one of DDs favourites, DS prefers left over roast meats.

My rule is a protien, a grain, and a fruit or vegetable (sometimes both.) Water to drink, rarely a juice box.
Today was yogurt (already opened and in a snapware container), an apple and water (didn't do any grains because we're out of all the things she likes.) Usually it's 1/2 a sandwich (either peanut butter (no jelly) or ham with mustard), an apple or banana or carrots and tomatoes. Every now and then she has leftovers if there is enough, but those usually go to work with dh.

Snack lunches here, too - I call them "bits and pieces" lunch.
It's usually 2-3 kinds of raw nuts (depending which child - dd1 hates walnuts, for instance), some raw sunflower seeds, a couple of slices of cheese or some plain yogurt, a little dried fruit, some kind of fresh fruit (apple slices, pineapple chunks, grapes, whatever), and a couple kinds of veggies (dd1 usually gets cucumber, and ds2 usually gets sugar snap peas - I also mix it up from carrot sticks, celery sticks, grape tomatoes, broccoli, etc. for both of them). In addition, I'll usually throw in a cracker or two, or a slice of bread, or some dry cereal (Os or puffed wheat are faves), or some cold leftover cooked pasta, if we have it.
I don't make this as often as I should, because I find it time consuming, but the kids love it.
