Birth Tubs Weight-Help!

Thread Starter
I was wondering if anyone had any sources about the weight of full birth tubs. My Mom is figuring around 800 pounds and is really concerned about that much weight in her old farmhouse.

It turns out this is one of her biggest concerns with having the homebirth at her house. lol

So can anyone help me alleviate her concerns? Thanks!

I was wondering about this issue as well and decided it's not as big of a deal as I initially thought.

We did the fishy pool and did not have any problems. Our floors are somewhat questionable, this is a shoddily constructed vacation home circa 1970's. We chose a part of the floor where it would be sitting on top of a beam. One thing we had considered was putting a jack underneath, but we deemed it not necessary.

Calculate the water at 8 lbs per gallon, but remember you're not putting the full capacity of the pool in there. I think the fishy pool is 100 gal. but we only filled it like 1/2 or 2/3.

Also think about what common pieces of furniture weigh and whether it would really be much more than that. What about an old solid wood china closet, or dining table with leaves, etc? An old farmhouse is probably constructed with heavy, real wood furniture in mind, not the stuff that most of us have today!

Or what about 4 200lb men standing in a circle chatting? If the floor can't handle that, well. . .I'd be scared to be living on it
