the clothing you tried making from a pattern turns out all wrong? Do you try to fix it, if possible? Do you rip it all out and save the material for another project? Do you toss the whole mess, pattern and all in a bag and hide it in the farthest recesses of your sewing/craft storage?
I bought this pattern for a summer dress that I thought was cute and would be nice as a maternity dress because it looked very roomy. Well, roomy it was, yes...but flattering, no!
Not only did the measurements on the pattern envelope lead me to make a size too large, but even if I had made it the right size, it would still look like I was wearing a tent...or a potato sack...or maybe even an extra large hospital gown. And there seems to be no fixing it. Even if I take in the shoulder seams so that it fits better under my arms and neckline, I am still going to be swimming in this thing. I tried simply creating a high waistline by tying a length of ribbon around it, but there is just too much fabric...it looks ridiculous no matter what I try.
So, now I'm contemplating what to do with the tent. Part of me says to just rip it apart and save the fabric for something else...but that would be alot of work. Part of me says I should wait until July or August and see if my pregnant belly sticks out far enough then to make me change my mind about wearing a potato sack. And part of me just wants to stick this thing in my craft closet and forget about it for a few millenia!
I hate it when this happens!
