Old Fuzzi Bunz leaking like CRAZY

I got some FB used- 5 of them, all in pretty much the same condition.

They leak, really badly. It isn't so much a leak as it is they act like they aren't waterproof AT ALL- I've tried hemp inserts, Kawaii microfiber inserts, a prefold etc. Inside the outer layer does not look like the PUL I've seen on other covers, but they are my only pockets and I don't know exactly what they should look like.

Thoughts? I'm going to try waterproofing spray, but I don't hold out much hope.

Is it possible they have residue on them? You can try washing them with a drop or two of dawn dish soap, and then rinse repeatedly to "strip" the gunk off. Sometimes used diapers have been washed in detergents that cling to them and cause them to repel instead of absorb.

Maybe strip them? I have a lot of very well used fb and none of them leak or repel. I've never stripped them.

I wasn't a big fan of the inserts that came with and I replaced them with new 4-ply fb inserts so they would absorb more, but that was simple because I knew I could do better. But lame inserts don't seem to be your problem...
