Mesh Feeder?

I bought a mesh feeder b/c ds likes to feed himself and I thought it would be good for pears/bananas and such. He had a banana in it the other day that was left in there for a few hours and I can't for the life of me get the thing clean! I scrubbed it and ran it through the dishwasher but there is still brown banana sludge in it.

Anyone have any good suggestions for cleaning it? Thanks

Soak it, and then run it under the tap on full (or use a sprayer if you have one).

Once you get it clean, frozen banana is much easier to get out next time.

My mesh feeder had these cleaning instructions: soak it in diluted vinegar. If you need to, you could use straight vinegar, but you'll have to soak it in plain water next to get the vinegar taste out. I forgot to do that once and DD was unimpressed. That's worked for everything I've put in my mesh feeder, even when one got lost under the couch (BLECH)

may i humbly suggest that you skip the mesh feeder and let LO eat the banana whole himself? we've been doing baby led weaning (BLW) since our son turned 6 months (he was born in early september 09). he can eat whole bananas, pear slices, asparagus, apple slices, broccoli, sweet potato patties, etc. etc. just make sure he is sitting upright and watch him carefully while he eats.

Well I ended up soaking it in HOT almost boiling water and then scrubbing it with a toothbrush, it came pretty much all the way clean!

I think I will clean it immediately after next time.

I do give him some things w/o the feeder, he always seems to break off too large of chunks but he is learning!

Love the mesh feeder! We used it alot when DD was teething and we'd put frozen banana or frozen fruit in there to let her gnaw on.
I just soaked it in soapy water for a while and then tried washing it with a toothbrush.
