Toddler Yeast Infection?

My sweet babe has had many ear infections, and each time has received a round of antibiotics. This most recent time, she has developed a yeast infection.

Is this easily spread to other areas of her body? Is there a way to help speed up her recovery? Is it painful for her?

Her pediatrician prescribed an over the counter cream to clear it up and, while it does look better, it still seems to have spread onto her thighs and bottom.

Thank you so much!

I have zero experience with this as a parent, but apparently I started getting yeast infections chronically before I was two. My lifelong experience is that the best thing to do is to slather the effected bits with plain, no sugar added yogurt. It feels really really good, it's not a weird chemical you have to worry about your kid touching, and it's rather helpful.

Good luck.

I would start a probiotic too.

I second the probiotic. DD's Dr. won't even give her an ABX without telling us to give her a probiotic.

Also, until it's cleared up I would avoid giving her anything to eat that is sweet or anything with yeast in it. It really helps. Yeast infections are terribly uncomfortable and I always feel bad for our DD when she has one (and that's often). Good luck, I hope she feels better soon!

Thank you so much! I will look into probiotics. Just at a regular grocery store?

And the yogurt idea sounds wonderful as well! She's having a hard time sleeping in the warmer weather, and I know a doesn't help!

You might be able to find it at your grocery store. However, if you have a natural food store nearby I would go there and get the refrigerated kind, it tends to have more active ingredients. Depending on what kind you buy the worker at the store should be knowledgable about how much to give your DD.
