Anyone pump/nurse from one side?

I've been mainly pumping since Henry was a week old. I have been pumping from both sides and producing good output, but now I'm considering nursing and pumping mainly from my left side with occasional snacking from my right (like at/through the night).

I can get decent supply from my right, though not as good as my left, but let down in that breast doesn't function right. He pretty much rejects it. He will nibble on it or even bite it or pop off a couple minutes after latching him on. It's also the side with the flat nipple. The only way he'll nurse on that side is when he's tired. I have to trick him into nursing on it.

With the pump, a Medela PIS, after 15 minutes, output sits at a teaspoon, if not less. In order to get what I need, usually 5 oz, I have to use a high suction and fast speed and do breast compressions. By the time I'm done I've spent 40 minutes on the pump. I just can't do it anymore. It's exhausting and I'm left with a sore nipple and tired hand. I've been sucking it up for 4 months, but it's getting to me now.

It sucks because the supply is there, but let down doesn't function right. No matter what I try, like all the tips and suggestions, nothing helps.

Right now I'm pumping 20 oz from my left and I need to increase output to 28-30. I have to pick up some fenugreek and add in another session to get to my desired output.

Anyone else relate or experience/d this?

I have no personal experience with it, but there was a good story on Motherings site about a woman who only breast fed off one side.

Hope that helps.
