anybody had 7 mo do this?

DS can put himself into a full upright sitting position from his belly or his back easily but isn't crawling. is this a strange way to go about things? i mean i know all babies are different and all but i just thought crawling would precede him being able to do this.

My DS (now 3) was like that - able to sit up well before he had any interest in crawling. I think it's about the baby's personality really. Some kids are more ambitious about their mobility, some have other obsessions.

My first did that too. She didn't crawl till almost 9 months but was moving from laying to sitting at 7ish months. Dd2 and dd3 both crawled first.

Totally normal. My son did it too! I was glad because he was lunging forward and getting stuck on his belly.

My guy went rolling, sitting, crawling, and is now cruising. I always thought that was the more "normal" progression.

yes so did I!! my guy does things differently for example when he started rolling over he rolled over both ways at the same time! he's a trip.

DD is 7 months and is the same way. She has also pulled herself up on her feet a couple times. She was only there a second. Still not quite crawling.

I figured I had stunted her crawling ability since I have an injured leg and we've both been living on the sofa a lot. She hasn't had as much floor time as I would have liked. Maybe the no crawling is just her.

DD could do that at 7 months and then learned to crawl a few weeks later. NEVER rolled over (unless she was getting on her tummy to then sit up), NEVER EVER army crawled. She went straight into perfect crawling.

She seemed more concerned about being able to sit up and read herself a book than going anywhere. She is so chill. It is a really cool personality/temperament. Enjoy!
