expose DS to CP? Newly Pregnant

Thread Starter
I just got a BFP!

I have the opportunity to expose 2 1/2 year old DS to Chicken Pox. I had CP as a child and shingles at 12/13.

I *thought* I remember being told that I had CP & Rubella immunity after some bloodwork was done but when I called the MW's office they said that's not part of the "OB Panel."

The MW's nurse said it was not recommended for a PG woman to be around pox, even if she'd had it before (but I don't know if that was coming from the midwife or is her opinion)

SO...having all that information. Expose or no, and why? I have to decide by Sunday.

If you have had CP and shingles you are immune. The risk to the fetus occurs when a pregnant woman CONTRACTS cp, not merely if they are exposed to it while pregnant.

If you want to have DS get this over with, I say go for it!

Just wondering what you decided. 2 1/2 does seem like the perfect age. Mine is too

Since this is about an illness rather than vaccines I'm moving to H&H.
