Best Carrier for DisneyWorld with a 12 month old.

My family is going to Disney World at the end of August for my three year old daughter's wish from the Childrens Wish Foundation. My youngest will be 12 months at the time and I'm wondering what my best bet is for a carrier. I'm getting annoyed with the straps on the babyhawk these days and find getting him into a back carry without help to be impossible.

Anyways I'm thinking an ergo might be a good bet and I happen to be able to get one for a pretty awesome price right now. Any thoughts on the ergo?

I've had my Ergo for almost four years now and love it. We tried several other types of carriers before our fourth child came along and the $ spent on the Ergo was well worth it.

I find it very easy to get it on by myself.

I love my ergo It's super comfortable, transfers a lot of the weight to your hips so your shoulders don't feel it, has a great sleep hood that I can still use with my almost 3 year old, has a pocket for storing a few small things, super easy to use. Really, I could go on, it's been my favourtite carrier of the dozen or so that I've tried.

If you have found one for a good price, I say get it. I think You'll get a lot of use from it since your little one is only 12 months.

Honestly (and I know this is a babywearing forum) I'd go for a stroller at Disney, especially in the heat of summer. Actually, no matter where the kids are or how they're carried, I'd want a stroller for snacks/gear/etc. For times when baby must be held, I'd use a ring sling -- they're quick to get in and out/on and off, and then easy to stash in the diaper bag.

Yes, keep in mind it will be VERY hot and humid (I'm in FL). With that in mind, I'd recommend wearing your baby on your back in an Ergo (I find it's not as hot for baby that way) or a solarveil ring sling. The solarveil is what I used for DD1 all the time at parks...loved it! (she could nurse in it, sleep in it and it was a very cool lightweight fabric and it has some SPF protection)

Have fun and don't forget the hats and sunscreen

You won't regret getting an Ergo. We have the Sport, which is supposed to be cooler. (I have never tried the original, so can't compare.) Have fun!

p.s. My DD is 11 mo (and big for her age) and I am getting so good at back carries with her. It's a great option for Disney, although I'd probably bring a stroller, too, as a PP suggested (I'd bring our Joovy Kooper...we have the yellow one.) With the Ergo back carry, I am even confident in a parking lot, i.e. not over the sofa anymore. It's so nice!
