Help! 6 month old keeps rolling off bed.

So we cosleep with my almost 6 month old. A little while back he started being able to roll so we put the mattress and box spring on the floor. Recently he now *flips* quickly as a way to get from
point a to point b. Well one issue is point b is often faceplanting on the floor. He's done it about 4-5 times, almost all while being extremely closely supervised. It hasn't caused any injury thus
far but I'm not sure if I should do anything. We have pretty plush carpeted floors and when we get back from vacation we are babyproofing the roo
The bed isn't that high but can falling off the mattress and bed spring cause harm? We don't have anywhere else for the box spring. Thanks!

Honestly I'd move the box spring under another bed or somewhere for another six months or so, but you are the judge - how is your kid handling the face-plants? Do you think he's getting hurt? What does your Mama gut tell you?

We live in a one bedroom 850 sq foot condo. We really don't have anywhere to move the box spring.

The 1st time he fell was when my dh was watching him and he was napping. He was upset but calmed down very quickly. A few times he hasn't even cried, just kept on rolling. Once he got stuck in a strange position so that upset him. Again though he calmed quickly once he was picked up.

My initial reaction is he's fine but it seemed that other people were flabbergasted I was "allowing" him to roll off. So I wasn't sure if I needed a reality check. Thanks again.

I had this same issue since my son was 6 months old. We finally took the box spring away and just had the mattress on the floor. My son is now 1 and never rolls off the bed but I still have the mattress on the floor. Do you have anywhere you can store the box spring? Like parents house ect...There are always the co-sleeping rails. Even with the box spring I am sure its not a far drop. Like the previous poster said trust your instincts. I was just afraid my son would land wrong when falling the short distance.

My guy started doing this too, only our bed is not on the floor. He's fallen off the bed 3 times so far, and out of the stroller once.

For the bed - I never leave him on the bed (asleep) without a pillow between him and the edge. He can crawl over the pillow, but he's not quick about it, so it gives me that little bit of extra time (he tends to "talk" while he's trying to climb over something) - assuming he wakes up without crying, which is rare. But, the pillow prevents him from rolling off in his sleep. Awake, I don't leave him on the bed at all (unattended).

Our bed is in a corner though, so I can lie along the outside edge and let him roam the inside area while I rest. I still have to be aware enough to keep him from going off over the foot, but again, pillows are my friend.
