I'm confused about poop

For the first 3 months of my son's life, his poop was the mustard/seedy/very easy to clean EBF type of normal poop. Now, about a month ago, he started to have poop that was the consistency of peanut butter or melted chocolate. According to babycenter's poop guide (http://www.babycenter.com/baby-poop-...t:5&pe=2UwY9qv) he had the number 3 pic for the first 3 months, and now he has picture number 6, which they say is solid food poop. But my son has never had solids yet, he's still EBF. Shouldn't his poop still look like pic 3? I'm confused, how can he have solid food poop and not be fed solids?

My son is six months old, and still EBF. His poop often looks more like #6, too. It has definitely changed in consistency. I assumed it was because he poops less often now - once a day or every other day, versus several times a day. My guess is that the nature of poop has something to do with gut maturity, as well as what they're ingesting. As long as it's not solid, I wouldn't worry.

Also, your milk changes. If he's not straining or in pain, he's probably ok.

I think I remember my son's poop changing to #6 around that time, too.

Am I the only one that finds that link incredibly interesting and informative? Thanks for posting it. I wish I had known about it sooner.
