probable c/s; what gifts would be helpful...

I have a young friend that is about to have her 3rd child via c/s. I'd like to take some things to the hospital for her after the birth that would thoughtful and useful. I wasn't sure about food/snacks since I don't know if she'll be required to eat certain things after the surgery. I have a few general things to help her hospital stay be more comfortable. Does anyone who's had a c/s or experience with it have any specific items that you really appreciated having or were helpful/utilitarian to have around? Thanks!

I have had 2 c/s and if you know her tastes in food I would bring her food like, a day after her c/s. They generally require you to wait 12-ish hours to eat, or until bowel sounds return. SO the next day I am sure she would appreciate real food!! We had friends bring us food and man.. it was great. I think there isn't a ton I would have wanted IN the hospital, I was really tired, but help the week or two after was key. It is hard to do ANYTHING and we had some friends who helped with our older son and helped me put away laundry and wash diapers and just generally keep my house from falling apart since DH had to go back to work.

Meals! I loved when people brought meals to us after we were home. I didn't need a whole lot in the hospital but I did appreciate my MIL's choc. chip cookies

Ditto the meals. I'd bring by a couple of meals once she is home, maybe stop and offer to do the dishes or fold laundry if she wants as well.

In the hospital, I'm always so busy nursing, I don't do much beyond that, walking around some, caring for myself as necessary and watching TV here and there.

jolly ranchers in case she has a general anesthesia. her throat may be sore and she may have a tickle which induces coughing, which in turn induces the sensation of your guts spilling out.

In the hospital, between pain meds and the high from birth, I have a hard time even finishing one magazine, you know? i can't think of much that I'd love when in the hospital.

but a meal during those first few weeks is like a god-send. Totally the best thing ever.

Meals, arnica tablets, calendula gel(to help the scar heal), mothers milk tea(to help with any possible issues nursing...) of course, these are all things that she would use at home, but it would be part of a nice little gift basket.

Thanks, Ladies! I definitely will be doing food and see what I can come up with to take to the hospital. I know just being there is the biggest thing but I don't want to showup empty-handed.

Thanks MamaSunflwr! One of our local stores carries some products from that line so maybe I can pick a few. Totally forgot about those!

A nursing pillow. I thought they were silly until I ended up needing a c-section. The other thing I thought was unnecessary but wasn't after you factored in an abdominal surgery was a changing table. However, the nursing pillow is a lot more affordable.
