A little confused about using ovulation detector thingies

I bought a pack of clearblue ovulation detector things.

I peed on one but I don't really know how i'm supposed to tell if it is + or not. It is the kind that has two lines but even if you are - it gives you a line but it's just not as dark as a + but if i've never seen a + one before how will I know? I tried my first one today and you can see the line clear as day but it's not as dark as the control line sooo when it IS pos will i see that the line is AS dark as the control?

Does it take a few cycles to figure it out?

If the test line is as dark or darker than the control, it's positive... what most ladies do is save their tests so you can see the LH surge rev up and then go away, when the sticks start getting lighter, you may ovulate in the next 12-36 hours from the darkest stick.

hmm but what about evaps? because i just looked at the test again and now it's blaring dark but skinnier than earlier...am i gearing up to O or no? I'm still gonna bd every night this week lol but I was hoping to KNOW when I O before it tells me on FF. kwim?

This was an odd cycle... I was taking two a day... See the AM positives on 11-19, 11-20 & 11-21? I ovulated on 11-21 that cycle, I think. (It was over a year ago.)

Anyway, it also shows how you can get different results at different times of the day. I do best with FMU. So, at first, you should test 2-3 times a day to figure when your best time is.

hmm I don't know hahah THey all look just slightly different from each other. It's hard to tell. Why does this need to be so hard LOL do they make digital oens that say "ovulation detected NOW GO JUMP YOUR DH"? cuz if they do i want that kind!

It is very confusing. I just started myself and it seems so crazy. I got them really cheap at early-pregnancy-tests.com and i got 25 OPKs and 10 prego tests for just 24.95 free shipping. There are really expensive electronic O tests that you can buy for several hundred that actually tell you yes you are Oing.

are the clearblue ones you have the blue dye ones? If they are Iv tried them and didn't really like them.

clearblue do digital Ovulation tests though that I love.. Gives you a smile when it detects the surge and you will get a blank face if its not detected ..

They are rather expensive though but you could try ebay. I only use them though if i think my cheap OPKs are + .. Just to confirm really.

Amazon usually has a good dela on digital OPKs but I would only use one after you get a maybe or a positive in an IC that way you are confirming, and not wasting them.

Thanks for all the info. The reason I bought this pack was because it was at a liquidation sale type thing and they will expire at the end of this month so I got the pack for 10 bucks which i thought was good since it has 7 sticks PLUS a digital pregnancy test. Def have to hold out to use that one! NO poas early this month for me.

Acutally i'm feeling kind of half-a$$ed this month about ttc...whatever that means lol. It might change after O but for now i'm kind of ho hum. Mostly because If i get pregnant this month I will be 8.5 months pregnant when we go on vacation in Florida...so at this point it might be better to not get pregnant this cycle.

BUT I'LL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET. Because if i've learned anything over here it is not to take fertility for granted and appreciate what i get! lol

At first, I would start taking mine on my first or second day of EWCM. But now, I sometimes wait until a couple days before my usual O day, and only take one per day.

Anyway, once you learn how they work for you, you'll like them. It may take a few cycles, or you might get easy to read, positives right away! (Of course, hopefully you won't need to learn much, as you'll get a BFP and won't need OPKs anymore.)

i thought they were confusing until i got my first blaring positive, then they made sense. when it's positive, you know it.

Okay good to know. It's funny how seeing that faint line was like OOOOH A LINE WOW I NEVER GET TO SEE A LINE!! haha even though I knew it didn't mean i was pregnant lol

yeah. there's no evaps on opks. we always have some lh, it just rises and falls, and the surge to get the egg to pop. so you will see it, it might be faint one day, dark the next, faint again, and then, wham, positive out of nowhere. or it might go from faint to darker to darker to positive, then lighten up. it is strange at first. when i started using them i remember thinking, gosh maybe this one is positive... or this one... then i got the first positive, and i knew- there is no question. mine usually stay pos for 2 days, but it's not a bad idea to check 2 or 3 times a day when you think you might be gearing up, because sometimes it only might last 6 hours or 12 hours or whatever, and it could be possible to miss it, since you dont know how long yours typically lasts yet.
