thoughts on exersaucers - Page 2

We have a jumperoo, similar to an exersaucer, and DD loves it. She likes being worn but she also likes doing other stuff and we do not leave her alone to jump in solitude, lol. It's great when I'm cooking also.
I think it is lots of fun for her but if I had known how gigantic it would be I might have considered a regular exersaucer instead. Fortunately, we do have a big living room.

I love the idea(like noow it would be great for the garden), but both my kids have hated them. They are too mobile of babies and so they think the excersaucer is boring.

We had/have an exersaucer and DD LOVED it when she was 5-7 months. She could stay in it for ages. We also babywear, but there are times (bathroom, cooking, computer) that it's nice to have your baby nearby but not on you (though I am sitting here right now wearing DS as DD naps).

When I brought it home and we put her in it, DD laughed and laughed.

my mother gave us one, she had gotten it used from a yard sale. dd did NOT like it, i think the position it had her standing in was awkward. plus.. it was circus themed and i loathe circuses
but it was, in my opinion, a big plastic waste of space and resources. dd loves her jumpy bounce door frame thing, and that is non plastic and easy to stick in a closet somewhere. much more fun for her..

I have one but limit my sons time in it. He enjoys bouncing in it, I bought it second hand and its a much older one that doesn't have all the bells and whistles. Its great for when I have cook dinner, and we often go days without using it.

I think of the same thing I think of pretty much all baby equipment. If you get it free or reasonably priced, they are nice to have - but not necessary.

We got a free 'walker', no toys, but a tray. DS absolutely loved it. He would walk all over the house in that thing. From about 7 months on he would walk holding our hands and this let him walk without me attached to him constantly. We have a ranch house, with a door and gate on the basement steps, so no worries about falls. I'm definitely glad we got it.

I have one, but only because it was free. I will admit, it's nice to have from time to time. I don't agree with using it as a babysitter, but when I need to fold a load of laundry, use the restroom, or throw supper in the crock pot, I sure do enjoy having it! I never let her stay in it for longer than 15-20 minutes at a time and no more than twice a day (usually just once). I think it's fine when used in moderation, personally. I wouldn't encourage using it for hours on end...a little common sense goes a long way, kwim?

Ds loved it for about 15 minutes maybe twice a day. I liked having it but not a neccesity.
Being home alone for nine hours a day, it was nice to have somewhere to plop him. And i didn't plop him there just to go pee or something. Sometimes I plopped him there and ate ice cream and hung out on MDC

I was happy to get it out of the house. It is big. I'm a fan of baby items if they are not abused and can be recycled or passed along.

I nearly got one today at the consignment store. I set my son, almost 4 months old, in it because it was hard looking through the racks while he was in the Ergo. He started to yell and I realized he was trying to go for one of the toys on it. I moved his arm so he could reach and he was thrilled to bits. My daughter was never into those type of things and wanted to be held all the time, but my son wants his 'space' and just loves toys, so I might get him one. I dug the bouncer thing we got as a hand me down when we got home and he was so happy in that, so I might just stick with that. I use to say I hate that thing, but I don't know. I mean I have to put him down occasionally since he doesn't have the luxury of being an only child and he doesn't want to be worn all the time.

my mother-in-law gave me one. at 1st i hated the plastic container, but ds loves it and has fun playing while i cook. it stays in the kitchen or our backyard and is used for short amounts of time. i love baby wearing but ds grew sooo big sooo fast and my short arms make it difficult with him on my front. when he's on my back he loves to pull my hair. i still engage him when he is in it by talking to him or playing peek-a-boo with the bathroom door which is within sight. so i agree with the above posts when you have the space, get it for free & use it in moderation it's not as evil as i once thought.
