would the tablet form of green tea give me all the anti-oxidants that drinking green tea does? I hate drinking green tea, I can't stand the taste but I know it is very good for anti-oxidants so still want to be getting it.

I doubt it. There are many other foods high in antioxidants though. What about berries?

Just a thought, but how are you brewing your green tea? I used to work at a tea shop and many of the people that asked me this very question (wanted green tea for the benefits but couldn't stand the taste) were brewing it entirely wrong. Too hot water and over steeping make for a bitter, nasty cup of tea.

Just in case you want to try:

Use one teaspoon of green tea leaves per 8-10 oz water. (I prefer a good loose leaf tea over tea bags. The quality is better). Use a mesh tea basket, not a tea ball. Tea balls are cute, but they do not allow enough water around the leaves.
Heat the water to 165-170 degrees F. Any hotter and you will ruin the tea, making it over strong ad bitter.
Experiment with your steeping time. Start at 2 minutes and go from there. Sip every 30 seconds until you find the steeping time that is right for the tea you have. it might be anywhere from 2 minutes to 5 minutes depending on the tea. I usually am happy with 3 minutes for an average green tea. Steeping too long will make a super bitter cup of tea.

Also, experiment with different kinds of teas. Just like with wine there are such a variety. A Japanese sencha tastes completely different from a Chinese dragonwell, for instance. And there are an infinite number of flavored green teas to try, too.

From looking online, I've read the green tea extract capsules are of a higher concentrate...and contain a higher amount of it that just drinking the tea.

How I was drinking the tea was put it in a mug of boiling water for 2 minutes, stir it a little, remove tea bag and drink it while it cooled down.

Just for fun, try it with cooler water. Who knows... you might find you like it! Not everyone does, of course, but I've met very few people who like green tea made with boiling water, and quite a lot that do after they try it with 170 degree water.

I'm just weary of some supplements. I think the best way to get antioxidants is through food. I would wonder how they process the supp what other ingredients are in it etc.

Yes and no. If you pay the money to join Consumer Labs you can find which supplements are bona fide. Most are not good and most contain super high amounts of caffeine. There were only 2 that were okay and one had caffeine and the other cost $70.

This article talks about some of the pitfalls of so-called green tea vitamins.

If you hate green tea, you can brew yourself a 'shot'. Instead of a full cup, just brew a few tablespoons and gulp it like a medicine.
