BBT Thermometer?

Do you use and actual BBT thermometer or just a regular under the tongue? I take my temp right at 7am every morning but there are a few mornings that I wake up like at 5 or 6 but I roll over and go back to sleep. Should I switch my time or these little wakeups will not effect anything?

I would def use a BBT...around here they are actually cheaper than regular thermometers. I got mine at a Kinny's Drug store for 3.99 and I saw some at a liquidation-type store recently that were 2 bucks each! I almost bought them to sell online LOL.

Thanks I am going to get one later. Last time I just used a regular thermometer and it worked just fine for me but now I am CD 19 and I am still getting low temps.

Do you think the sturing of the night would effect my temp?

I use a BBT thermometer from Target. They say your temp should be taken after at least 3 hours of solid sleep. I'm not sure if just waking and stirring and then falling back to sleep counts, or if they mean actually getting up (like getting up to pee or something).

ive heard women say if they take it at a different time it makes no difference- like if they normally take it at 7, but take it at 5 and then go back to sleep and take it again at 7, it's the same. but tcoyf says your temp goes up 1/10th of a degree every 30 mins, and that is what happens with me, i know. 1 hour probably wont mess up your chart, but 2 hours could, because 4/10s could be the difference between recognizing an o or not. you can adjust- ff will do this for you- it's under the data tab, (might be a vip feature, not sure)or you can do it yourself- if you wake up at 5 instead of 7, you would add 4/10s to that temp. but i hate doing that sort of thing. the less consistent and the more you muck around with things, the more difficult it gets to interpret, i think. if it were me, i might just not even record, or i might discard, the temps that are like 2 hours or more off. the 1 hour, i probably wouldnt worry about that.

Thanks ladies I did get a BBT yesturday and took my temp this morning with both thermometers to see how off my other one was and its amost a whole degree so I am just going to ignore this chart before today and just relie on my OPK's. It is only month one anyway and this is a great learning tool.

if i were you, i would temp with the bbt therm, discard your previous temps, AND do the opks. the thing with opks is they dont tell you if you o'd, only if you are gearing up to o. but all you need to temp, really, is a few days before o until a couple days after when it is confirmed- you do not need to temp the whole month. cp and cm are very helpful also, so i definitely encourage you to check those as well! hope you have beginners luck this cycle!

Thanks Karmab I didn't even think of that I will discard those other temps even though I do think I already O'ed but if the old temps are way off anyway it doesn't matter on my chart. I am just doing the OPK's to get used to them. THanks for all your support and help!
