I was just hoping I could get some responses about how long it took you to concieve after taking mirena? Did your cycle come right back? Tell my your joys or horror stories about it.

I didn't have a typical experience (removal due to pregnancy, followed by ruptured ectopic), but my cycles returned 100% normal within a month from my surgery.
Can't speak to conception since we took other methods to avoid, but everything (minus a fallopian tube!) definitely appeared to be in working order!

Wow I have heard of stuff like happening. I was one of the lucky ones who had no problems with it. I am so sorry for your experience. Thanks so much for sharing!

After removal, I had one abnormal cycle--sort, no ovulation--and I ovulated a couple days early the second cycle. I got pregnant that second cycle, so it seems as if all was working well.

I think after a month I had a normal cycle-I became pregnant 2 months after having it out.

I had mine in for the whole 5 years and had it removed in August 20th 2008.
Never even cycled! Got pregnant 3 weeks later and babyman was born June of 09! Best of Luck!

I had mine taken out 42 days ago and have yet to ovulate of have a period! But I am still nursing so I'm not sure if that is impacting the return of fertility.

If I remember correctly (4+ years ago), I had one cycle after having mine removed, then was pregnant the following month. I had another inserted after giving birth.

I had it removed and a few days later felt like my period came. I experienced a strange, short cycle - and then conceived on my next normal cycle after that.

It took about 5 days.
We were trying to avoid and didn't realize it could happen so soon. We are expecting our bundle mid-Oct

I ovulated about 8 days after having it taken out but had an extremely short luteal phase (15 day cycle). I used FAM to avoid for 4 cycles before TTC and got pregnant on our first cycle trying. I would say it took several cycles to really normalize in that my cervical fluid was getting more fertile each cycle and my periods were getting heaver as my uterine lining recovered. Which is not to say that I couldn't have conceived earlier.

My chart is http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/299dd4 if you're at all interested.

It took me 81 days to get a period after getting my Mirena out. I then had 2 wacky cycles, got pregnant and then miscarrie early on. My cycles are still wacked out from it.

I had it for a year, spotted through the whole year and "felt" pregnant every month. Had it taken out, bled horribly for 2 weeks, then got pregnant that next cycle. Wish I'd waited, ended up with an infection from the IUD being removed that lasted through a lot of my pregnancy, but didn't result in anything negatively, just a pain to deal with. Had a healthy 9 pound baby at 41 weeks. Good luck!

i had mine put in after my cycle returned at 3 months postpartum. it was in until right after my dd's 2nd birthday. had it removed nov 2nd 2009. period started 2 days later, and right off the bat my cycles were normal ovulatory cycles. we conceived on the 5th cycle of trying, and we are almost 12 weeks pg now -- due november 30th!

I had a couple of weird cycles but got pg on the fourth one.
I used Fertility Friend and it was very interesting. I think it took awhile for my hormones to get back to normal, although I started ovulating right away.

I got pregnant about 5 months out of having the Mirena after perfectly timed cycles. I don't really think the Mirena caused any sort of "delay" or impacted my fertility in any way, I think it just takes everyone a different amount of time to get pregnant. I had ovulatory cycles right off the bat. Good luck!

I took it out January 2009 and got my period back a month later. They were normal for 3 months and then went wacky. I went 4 months with no period and then they were 30-50 days apart until December 2009. It was normal for December and January and I got became pregnant in Febuary! It was a long time to conceive but my doctor said my body doesn't handle the hormonal changes caused by birth control. My doctor LOVES mirena for nearly everyone but not for me. I had 4 years of pelvic pain and then crazy cycles after.
