Thank you all for always helping with my questions and concerns. Yesterday I started to have some cramping and went into doctor. I am 5 wks and they couldn't see anything on vag u/s yet. They tested my hcg and it is 638. I have to go in tomorrow for f/u test. Does anyone know if these are normal levels for 5 weeks? The ER doc was not real helpful with answering questions.

there can be quite a range so you are better off looking at two numbers and seeing what direction things are heading.

yeah... one number doesnt tell you anything beyond whether or not you are pregnant... and for most hospitals anything over 5 is pregnant.

So... yay you are pregnant!

now whether tomorrows follow up goes up or down... that will indicate better if things are progressing (it goes up, no matter how slowly/quickly, then the pregnancy is still progressing, even if slowly)

I was 5w2d when I had my first u/s with this one and we could just barely see anything. So I wouldn't worry based on that, even if your dates are off by a few days baby might be too small to see.

There's a HUGE variation of normal hcg levels, so 638 doesn't mean anything other than yes, you're pregnant. If they do another check after 48 hours you should see the number double.

First the good news. My second hcg was 1386 which is a great sign. Bad news is that they are watching to see if this is an eptopic pregnancy. On friday they are hoping to be able to rule this out. They are thinking it is possible due to the severe cramping I am having (they cannot see anything on u/s yet). I would also like to share a site that my mother sent me this morning.
