OKay, I'm close to tears right now because I'm afraid my son might have a UTI.
He had a fever on Thursday. He pretty much slept the whole day. No other symptoms whatsoever. I only treated it enough to keep him comfortable.
A little bit about my son: He's a heavy wetter. He pees A LOT when he pees and he does it frequently. It's been like that since he was born. We let him go diaper free a lot because he inherited my sensitive skin and is prone to diaper rash (even in cloth) Also, because of the constant peeing, it's easier to try to "catch him" peeing and put him on the potty than go through a ton of prefolds in a day.
Today he hasn't peed much. A couple of times that he's peed it's prefaced by crying. Now, most of them were because he was genuinely upset (I wouldn't let him tear up a book for instance) and, after screaming in frustration, he started peeing. This actually happens fairly often with him...
However, when he woke up from his most recent nap it was a long time before he peed again..and it was only a "spurt" of pee. DH said he seemed uncomfortable at the time. I sat him on the potty and nursed him (try to get him to relax) and got nothing...so he crawled away and, while playing a few feet from me, peed a fair amount.
His pee varies in color from almost clear to a pale yellow. He doesn't look like he's dehydrated and there's no reason for me to think that there's blood in his urine.
He's in good spirits otherwise. I think he's teething and I had trace dairy recently so we've dealt with a few tantrums. No fever today (actually not since thurs)
I did a search online and he has, like, one or two of the symptoms...everything I saw says they'll have to cath him. I can't handle that. Would one of those OTC tests work?
