Yes you can climb walls with leg braces!

She has been practicing the climbing wall at Children's during PT. Well the practice has come in handy. Yesterday she went to a birthday party at one of those bounce places. You have to climb a wall to get to the top of the slide (hubby went with her, I didn't go to the party). Well here is how she did.

Yep, the inflatable kind.

The climbing wall at Children's is the regular kind like at REI with the colored foot and hand holds.

It amazes me she can do this with not having any feeling or movement below the knee on her left leg.

But my husband said, nothing was going to stop her. I think the Mom of the birthday girl was really nervous. She even asked my daughters pre-school teacher if she should ask Gabrielle to the party or not. She was just unsure if Gabrielle could do it.

Well I think Saturday proved she can.

eta - Her spinal cord is re-tethered. But looks like it's not bothering her one bit.

Go Gabrielle! Where there's a will, there's a way! I'm glad she had so much fun.

I braided her hair too. So she kind of looked like a little farmer girl.

The Ped (along with us) feel he does have ADHD. We want further evaluation with a Pschologist. However, I can't find one that is either not swamped or takes are insurance.

Cardinal Glennon said call back at the end of June when the next half of the year schedule opens. They might be able to see him in August or September.

I need to get back on this tomorrow. I was so worn out and frustrated last week with it. sigh...

That's awesome! I went to a climbing wall party for a former student's birthday and one of the kids in his class has CP and can barely place any weight on his legs. He climbed to the top of a 30 foot wall using basically just his arms!

That is awesome! And she is adorable too!

She's beautiful and looks so incredibly proud of herself! Way to go!

I like how the inflatable thingy had a rope down the center to grab on to. The one closest to us does not and I had to help my 2 y.o. up. It was HARD for me while pregnant!

That's awesome! Thanks for posting the pics. My little one has 2 AFOs. I look forward to seeing her do stuff like that.

She wants to learn to dance, ice skate, ski, snowboard, ride horses, play soccer. We are going to do everything we can to help her achieve these accomplishments.
