Yeah! Finally convinced DH to spend the big bucks and get a Dyson. THey are on sale this month at SEARS.....but we looked at bag and bagless.....he wants to go bagless. Weve got a berber (very low) carpet.....2 hairy dogs and a hairy kitty.....and me

Can anyone tell me about what they got and how it worked out or what you prefer? thanks so much.....we are buying soon!

We got the Dyson bagless - it is yellow. We have a cat and two dogs and the vacuum does an incredible job of picking up pet hair. I really recommend it!

Oh, Oh - I just recently splurged and got a Dyson Animal - I love it... - I didn't think they made a bagged version :

My mistake.....I dont think they do, at least not the animal.

Tell me........do you have to empty the container ALOT......like how much?

I'm pretty sure Dyson does *not* make a bagged version! We have the yellow one, and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We actually just got it last week after doing tons of research.
Actually, all the models are the same, just different attachments. We have two dogs and one cat, and have found the attachments that come with the basic model to do a wonderful job. We debated getting the animal - I wanted it mainly because it's purple! :LOL
Anyway, I empty it after every vaccuuming, but I know I could go longer. I have to admit I've been vaccuuming sometimes twice a day since I got my new toy! I can't rave enough about it!

We could have done with out the Animal and gotten the yellow one aslo, but the purple is darn cute .
I, too, empty the canister after each use (it is really easy and not messy at all, btw) - it is such a shame to leave it sitting there with dirt in it (I know, it is just a vacuum, but it is the most money I have spent on anything in a long time...)
Also, rainsmom - you can buy the yellow one and get the other attatchments that come with the animal afterwards if you decide you want them..

I have been researching vacs on and off for, no joke, almost a year now, and still haven't gotten a new one. : I did decide about a month ago that I wanted a Dyson (either the Animal or the "full kit," which is an animal without the carpet care kit), but now it's a question of convincing dh we should get it, having enough cash to spend, and figuring out the cheapest place to get it. Can you tell me what the price is at Sears and how long the sale runs? Thanks!

I think the sale is another week (I THINK) We havent bought ours yet, I know we have at least till this weekend.......but its interest free for a year.....which is how we usually buy all our appliances. PLUS you can bring it to sears for any thing that goes wrong.....which is what dh likes compared to buying at COSTCO.

We have very very low carpets, hardly any pile in it really.....so I dont know if we need all the attachments....Do I? BUt we do have mexican tile floors and are doing an addition which will have laminate flooring.....so dh wants the attachment for that......i believe its the same attachment that goes under the bed......hes siked about that!

IM SO EXCITED YOU GUYS!!! Cant wait to get it!!

Do any of you who currently have a Dyson have long-haired dogs? My problem with EVERY vacuum I've had so far is that the brush roll is always getting snarled up with dog hair, and I have to stop vacuuming to pull all the hair off the roll. I like what I've heard about the cleaning power of the Dyson, but I'm also really keen to avoid the brush-roll clogging problem too...

Thought you would want to know beccaboo:

If you were going to go to SEARS to buy your Dyson.......

I went last night and found out they price match......whatever the retailers in your state are selling it for they will match....(not online sales though.)

So....we came home and got online.....BEST BUY is selling them for $473...but since that store is an hour and a half away.....we printed out the sale price and the guy at Sears said he'd match it and we could buy it at SEARS, interest free at the BEST BUY price!

We got this nasty vaccum as a wedding present and it recently died. So we are in the market for a new vaccum, i saw this post and checked the dyson vaccum out it looks neat LOL
I like the idea that is it good for allergy sufferes because my kids have ashtma...

Do you have to replace the filters or "wash" them?
How often do you have to wash the filters?
In our old vaccum you did and the stupid thing never worked!

In the specs it says it has a "Dyson-designed floor tool and carpet cleaning kit" What are they exactly?

Thanks...we are trying to find the "perfect" vaccum before we spend tons of money on another one, because im not getting a crappy one LOL

I just got mine yesterday and Im in love.......dh wouldnt even let me do the first vacuum! He insisted on doing it.....cant believe it, we are already fighting over it!!! But its so quiet and lightweight! I love this thing.

There are 2 filters.....one is permanent....the other you wash every 6 mos by hand. and it comes with a 2year warranty, so if the filter breaks or wont work, they will replace it. You can also bring it to SEARS and they will clean the vacuum during this time too, replacing anything it needs. You can add more years on if you want.

Floor tool - to reach under furniture. Adjustable for hard floors or carpets. maintains perfect contact with the floor to optimize pick up.

The cleaning kit is a powder and a liquid with an attachment that is used for spot cleaning carpets or furniture. We also got a rebate for something free..an oxo god grips cleaning kit.....? have no idea what THAT is.....

AND, in addition to the price matching SEARS did......I printed out a BEST BUY sales price from their online store......they also took off an extra 3bucks PLUS they were running a coupon in their flyer for 10bucks off if you spend over 200bucks and put it on your card. So I ended up getting 40bucks off the price. PLUS.....interest free for a year!

Go and get a demonstration......youll be amazed and the suction power! I vacuumed the day before....and couldnt believe what came up! It was disgusting.....not just hair.....but dirt from the bottom of the carpet! ANd I was standing in the same room when dh was using it, talking on the phone...thats how quiet it was!

My DH has a thing against Sears (boys...) so we got ours today from Best Buy. We got the red and purple one (has a separate attachment for hard wood floors) and it ROCKS!!! It's fun to watch the dirt and dust swirl around in it, too, lol. He wouldn't let me use it first, either. It's worth its weight in gold, with how clean the floors are now!!!

I just wanted to add that Bed Bath and Beyond and Linens and Things carries the Dyson both purple and yellow. They often send out a 20% coupon that can be applied to the purchase. It adds up to a savings of 80-100 dollars. That is how I bought mine.

JoyfulMomma...I was just going to post the same thing! I got mine at Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% off coupon! I love my Dyson!!!

The Linens and things by us only had the yellow dyson......we wanted the purple.........and the price match was only good on retailers in our state. I didnt see BBB listed as a retailer that carried them.......I was going by the www.dyson.com list of retailers in AZ.

Im loving it though.....really loving it!!!

Ooh, you guys - I am getting jealous! And look, Dyson really must bring joy to people's lives. Could it be a coincidence that not one, but two, joyful mamas posted here?

Do you know that a 20% off coupon for LNT just arrived in our mail yesterday? I think that fate is guiding me... Well, maybe not, but I'm just trying to psyche myself up that we should spend the money on this!

Oh, and rainsmom, not sure exactly what that cleaning kit is, but OXO goodgrips makes kitchen hand tools (can openers, cheese slicers, etc) that have comfy, ergonomic handles.

One more question: So if you have a problem with your vac, IF you bought it at Sears they'll do repairs there, but if not you have to send it back to Dyson? Is that right?
