Beccaboo! You crack me up : Ive been telling everyone about the dust mites, theres alot of people not sleeping! We went to costco yesterday and bought 4 new pillows!! I was going to donate our old ones to the humane society (if theyll take them) It was so nice to spend the night on a vacuumed mattress, clean mattress cover and sheets, and brand new pillows.............ahhhhhhhhhhh

I read the same thing about the comforter. Thanks for reiterating it here. Cos I forgot to put it in the dryer when I washed everything. How often do you guys wash the blankets on the bed??

And yes, if there is a support group for people obsessed with their vacuums, I need to know about it. Dh and I actually fight over who's going to use it!!

Can I join? I got my sister hooked.

Beccaboo -- I got mine off of ebay. The guy is an independent dealer. I got my FULL GEAR for $475 with shipping. I can get you his id if you want it. Plus I won it on a Thursday and had it on Monday. I am in Chicago area too!

Hi Jessica! Nice to hear from another member of the Dyson cult. And hey, my nephews are named Zachary and Joshua and live in the Chicago suburbs! [Their sister is Maggie/Margaret, if you're ever in the position of looking for girls' names that fit with Z&J! ] It does sound like you got a good deal, but I'm trying to keep the price to the absolute bare minimum. [I suppose I ought to consider the red & purple model, but I am being swayed towards the animal due to the fancy accessories, plus the ultra cool color! heh heh] I'm not sure that I want to put any extra money towards an extended warranty, especially since DH thinks I'm pretty much nuts for considering a $400 vacuum to begin with.

The Best Buy saga continues (or rather, I suppose it has ended) - now it's back to full price online but still out of stock. So they won't be of any use for price-matching. Oh well, 20% off $499 is maybe going to be my best option. Are you all completely sick of reading about my slow and tortured process of researching and buying a vaccum cleaner yet?! My god, this woman needs a hobby or something! : I confessed to my obsessiveness earlier in this thread, as I recall, so there you have it...

Becca

PS - I *did* know about dust mites before, but I am very good at being in denial for sometimes lengthy periods. However, there's nothing like insomnia and recently-viewed alarming facts (not to mention freshly-recalled photos of microscopic critters) to get the ol' imagination fired up!

Ok, ladies, I'd like an update. I'm considering going out today to get a Dyson Animal (got a hairy Springer). Now that your honeymoon is over I want to know if you all are still as enthusiastic and satisfied as you were in March. Is your Dyson still sucking up the dirt as well? Any mechanical problems? Any problems using that you didn't anticipate? Like, is the reversable handle more a pain to use than it's worth? That's my suspicion and I hope I am wrong.

Thank!

LOVE mine. Just used it this morning and still can't believe how much dog hair it picks up. And I can't believe how much hair comes off of my dog on a regular basis! I'm still trying to figure out why he isn't bald!

Me TOO! I have 3 labs, and the room I vacuum the most they are never in yet I get a TON of hair up!

3 LABS! :LOL

We'll probably head to Best Buy tonight. Dh says I don't have to twist his arm to get us in there. :

BTW, anyone play the telescope game at the Dyson web site? Dh is cursing me...bwahaha!

Yep. 1 boy (black) and 2 girls (chocolate). Sigh, it was worse when DH let the boy and youngest girl out together in heat. Yep you guessed it puppies. 13! 10 boys 3 girls, only 10 made it, but Oey what a mess.

My Dyson arrived today!

I did all the carpets here and went to my mom's and did hers. I am so amazed at how well it picks up the dog hair. My old vacuum didn't put a dent in the dog hair in the basement and this thing sucked it right up. The carpets look new again.

I bought the animal vac and it arrived with an attachment that is not listed in the manual. Guess I need to post a pic of it and see if anyone can tell me what it is for.

I think that attachment is for using under the bed/furniture.
