I understand that the answer will change as my baby grows, but how small do I need to cut things up so that she doesn't choke?
She still gags on even little pieces of broccoli or other food that's no more than 1/4 inch on any side. The gagging TERRIFIES my husband and I'm not too happy about it either. We use mesh feeders and I let her gnaw on some things in larger chunks, but she gags on any pieces that come off.
She's 8 months old and very determined to eat solid food, but I really don't know how big her airway is. If I knew I was cutting things up smaller than her airway I wouldn't worry so much about the gagging, I would know it's just the piece of food hitting the wrong spot.
Anybody have any info on this?
