my little girl was a 32 weeker and is now 19 months but has only her middle front 4 teeth and two upper molars starting to appear this month.

my ds, her twin, has had all his appear as normal.

what's your experience mamas?

My ds was a 30 weeker and was really slow to get teeth. I looked at a picture of him yesterday from when he was very newly 2, and he had his top and bottom 4 and 4 molars.

So, they could just be slow to come in.

DS was born at 33 weeks and I would consider him to have had normal teething. It seemed slow to me though, since his older brother got his first tooth at 3 months (YDS at 7 months) and had 14 at 1 year.

My 34 weeker got teeth the quickest, she got her first at 12 weeks then not another one till 10 months, but then had them all except 1 and 2 year molars by the time she was a year old.

My 36w, 38w and 39w boys all had 1 tooth at 1 year old, and only about 4 teeth by 18 months(well, River isn't 18 months yet!)...Kincaid, 39w, didn't get his last 2 year molar till 4 years 9months old, and Travis, 38w, still has 2 he needs to get at almost 3.

I think some kids are just really slow teethers...I know DH had a lot of teeth at 1 just from pictures, but I didn't get my first tooth till 15 months, so I think it is maybe genetic.

eta: Janelle, the 34weeker, is also missing her 2 year molars entirely, they never formed, still don't show up on x-rays. Which is good, since she also had to have her 6 year molars removed before they came in due to having a really small mouth, so another 4 teeth just wouldn't fit in there at all.

My 31 weeker who is now 18 months has only 4 center teeth on top and 2 on the bottom...slow but he does fine eating so we're not worried!

At least about that.

All of my kids, three full term and two preemies (35 and 32 weeks) were over a year old before getting their first teeth. I think it's more genetic than anything else! I was also over a year, as were my sisters.
