Yay for Trades!

I love it when people will trade a plant for something other than money.

My mom came across a gardener that was selling black bamboo.I have wanted bamboo for years,but cost kept me from buying it.She was selling at a bargin price to start with of $12 a large pot,but she accepted a trade.

My mom gave her some sort of ginger and another plant for 2 large pots of bamboo. I was so thrilled with my bamboo I sent the lady(via my mom) some eggs from my 3 hens.I gave my mom eggs too! I have one egg left!

I love trading.And to think that woman gave my mom the bamboo and trusted she would stop by with the plants she offered in return.Very trusting.

That is such a great story! I think trading is coming back into style as people are trying to save money and live simpler lives.

OH I just love that story too!

For YEARS I wanted giant green Vivax bamboo and black bamboo. They were $100/clump! So for two consecutive years in a row my hubby bought me one of each for my birthday and they are going NUTS in our front yard this year. I was just saying to him I'd love to be able to spread the joy for trades when our plants produce enough new shoots. Why bamboo has to be so exclusive is beyond me.
