Bone broth in fridge?

How long can I leave bone broth in the fridge before I freeze it? I heard it is more susceptible to botulism because it is so basic. I have some that has been in there for 3 weeks.....

Definitely not 3 weeks. I would say 3-4 days. I try to freeze it in baggies (or ice cube trays) as soon as possible.

I have left broth in the fridge for a month. Just remove the top layer of fat, give it a sniff, it if it is bad, toss it, but usually it is not. I then just boil it for a very long time, to make sure there is nothing bad in it, though that layer of fat protects it more than I had ever thought possible. I used to think chicken broth would go bad in a few days, too, but that has not been my experience.

til it smells bad. with an unbroken fat cover, definitely a while, like maybe 3+ weeks in the fridge? I just had some chicken broth that kept 1.5 weeks (at least. I froze it at that point) without a fat cover.

I don't think broth is basic... I add apple cider vinegar to it, it should be slightly acidic. I've never heard of botulism being a particular worry with broth. Or a worry at all...

Good to know about boiling it - I am weird about food stuff so I tend to be overcautious.

I give mine a week. It freezes well, though, so not too hard to keep longer.

The main worry with broth is mold, I think. Broth is an ideal medium for mold. But the fat cover protects it a lot. My personal comfort zone with broth is only five days, but that's probably just me being overly concerned. I am paranoid about food safety issues because of the years I was immuno-compromised. I'm in remission now and off those drugs, but the habits still persist. So probably if it smells okay and isn't moldy, it's fine.

I think I've seen folks say they store it for far longer than a few days, esp with the fat layer atop of it. I know we do. Never had any problems with that.
