Great kitchen tips for the distracted and clumsy

So today I put bright red stickers on the tops of the spices that can really mess things up if you add too much.

Sometimes having a lot of things in the same jars can be really bad.

We almost had taco night from burning tower of fiery pain pain pain

Anyone else have ideas?

nope no ideas. I'm still learning that hot things are hot. my poor arms... but I've finally learned that sheet pans from the oven at work are hot, and to be really really careful around them. Still learning that pots on a pilot light, or on the stove, or almost boiling liquid is hot....

I think I need to put a label on my breadmaker to remind me to use a hotpad before I lift out the pan. I'm starting to burn off my fingerprints.

Good idea about the spices. So many times I've been meaning to use smoked paprika and used regular instead. Yikes, that's hot!

Also, I think I need a dog to clean up all the stuff I seem to manage to drop on the floor.

I've been trying to train myself to set the timer for whatever I'm cooking, even when I'm still cooking in the kitchen. That way I'm reminded about the roasting veggies or the steaming artichoke by the timer, not the smell of burning food.

I grabbed for the chili powder and threw a tablespoon of cayenne in the taco meat. Fortunately I managed to get most of it out.

I have a label machine and I made labels for all of the lids of my spice jars. I have one of those handy, dandy pull out cabinets by my stove, just for spices. Though it's not as handy, dandy as I thought it would be since all of the lids of my spice jars look the same. Besides, the labels are a larger, bolder writing than the sides of the jar so that helps.
