Babywearing in hot weather

Hi all!

Does anyone have any tips for baby wearing in hot weather? It's suddenly 30 degrees here (celsius), and it's sooo tempting to put him in the stroller, because it's so warm wearing him in the Beco carrier!

Any suggestions for keeping cool? I don't want either of us to get heat stroke.

We have a net-like sling and a linen sling that I'll wear him in this summer. I had to put the Moby away already because he was sweating buckets. Also, we take frequent 'wearing' breaks, avoid the heat of the day, and I offer the boob often. And yes, he goes in the stroller occassionally when we are going to be out and about for a long period....it's ok. It won't ruin your babywearing relationship. Do what works best for you!

I live in Arizona, so babywearing got tricky. When he was big enough, we used the Moby to hip-carry, but honestly once the triple digits hit we were done - both of us got WAY too sweaty. I did have a mesh (solarveil) ring sling that was pretty cool, but it was not very supportive.

As it gets hot, wear as much as is comfortable. If both you and baby are sweating buckets and miserable, wearing him would be worse for your bond than popping him in the stroller (get off me mom! I'm dying here!)

I would go for a linen RS with a shorter tail, a gauze wrap, or a solarveil RS/pouch. I live in Florida and I like my gauze wrap for around the house and the solarveil rs for walking outside, the beach, or the pool. Like LitChick said, it isn't the most supportive, but it is very breathable.
