I'm wondering if anyone has some advice on whether I should see a fertility specialist to get a Rx for progesterone or clomid. My cylces are regular but very short (22-23 days); my luteal phase 11 days (kind of short but consistent). I am 39 1/2 and have been TTC for 9 months. I have 2 kids already (no major problems TTC) but have had several early miscarriages this time around. My OB/GYN says he doesn't refer to a specialist in my case, he would rather I just stop charting and wait and see. I am not totally sure I agree, especially since i spot typically for 2-3 days before each period. any advice? I REALLY want one more babe and don't want to spend too much more time trying...Thanks!

Well, I sometimes spot a day or so before my period and I do not have a progesterone issue. I think the advice of "wait and see" for a 39 year old whose been TTC for 9 months isn't great advice. I'm 38.5 so I know about time not being on our side.
I would request bloodwork on CD3 and again after O to test for FSH and progesterone, etc. A doctor should be able to request that for you, you don't have to go to a fertility specialist to check your progesterone. I wouldn't get a random prescription of progesterone unless I needed it, personally. What are your charts like? are your temps high in the luteal phase, or are they at or below the coverline?

My temps are usually above the coverline in luteal phase, pretty normal looking. There is a pattern, although usually after the day of peak temps there are a bunch of decreases towards below the coverline before AF. i guess my dr. doesn't do that stuff since he said he doesn't. don't know why but i'll ask again just in case. Very frustrated with the timeline, since it always takes so long to research/find a new dr. that is covered by insurance, etc. and to find a specialist, etc. Thank you for your advice.
