I say go with the dreams! That's how we are doing this one, if it's a girl. We will be using ViviAnne (pronounce Viv-E Anne) as a baby kept coming to me in my dreams after my last m/c telling me she would meet me one day. And it's a family name (split between my gma and my mom's names). So yeah, i am a sucker for the traditional Vivian.

I really like Miriam but am not a fan of non-traditional spellings, so I voted for Vivian.

Ingrid: last three years 636, 545, 798
Aurelia: Not ranked in the top 1000 for the last 60 years
Corinne: last three years: 679, 841, 757
Adeline: last three years: 388, 361, 351 (though there are lots of other Addy's, Addisons, etc....something to consider)
Miriam: last three years 303, 309, 310
164 isn't too bad.. my son's are around 70-90 in the popularity and I've only met one other Oliver (a friend, actually, she named him without realizing that was our chosen name while I was still PG)... I've never met another kid/baby named Sebastian.

Eek. "Explosive trend" makes me nervous...and the name did take a big jump in the last year. I'm glad it's still in the mid-100s, though...even if it is becoming more popular, it's still very infrequent. I think I'm okay with that. Gah. Darn Jolie-Pitts.

I meant to put "Miriam" in the poll choice, as that's the version we'd most likely use...Myriam is just an alternative spelling we'd consider (possibly to make Myra a more possible nickname).

You could still call her "Myra" even if the spelling is "Miriam." I mean, look at "Jack" being a nickname for "John," or "Bob" being a nickname for "Robert." It doesn't have to come directly from the spelling.

I LOVE Vivian but hate that it's rapidly rising in popularity. My BFF just had a little girl, and they had decided on Vivian while pg--except that her boss also decided on it for his DD due at the same time.

Given that, I'm a fan of (in order of preference):

Miriam (nn Miri or Mim)
Ingrid
Imogen

Another vote for Vivian even despite its seeming rise in popularity, but I'll throw another one out there that I love, but DH would rather eat nails than use, so maybe some little girl out there will get it: Ophelia. Really though, any of your choices are lovely. My sister is considering Imogen so I'm partial to that as well.

I voted for Vivian and Imogen. They are both beautiful names, but honestly I just love the story you have behind the name Vivian and it sounds to me like that is your little girls name. If you're concerned about your friend who was going to use it, maybe you could alter it a little? I also love V names and on my girls list were:

Viola
Lyvinnia (This WILL be my girls name if I ever have another and it happens to be a girl...lol. Doesn't start with V but I would have used the nick name Vinni).
Vera
Vienna

You could also do Viviana or Vianna. But if I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about 'stealing' the name of a potential child who may or may not come to be.

Well shoot. Dh came home yesterday and said Imogen was off the list for him. But thanks for all the input! I think we have our list of 6 we'll take to the hospital, and all the discussion on Vivian/Adeline was really helpful...those are dh's favorites, and he read the thread.

And ...

It's a good thing ds3 isn't naming the baby. As we were putting our list together, he put this one together:

Sep
Immusia
In Cho
Kalan
