Who is eating our hostas!?

We have four hosta plants under a tree in our backyard that has recently lost it's leaves! Not from the wind or rain, but you can tell that something has been nibbling on them. We live in an area where it's fairly common to see a ton of rabbits, squirrels and even deer, so maybe it's one of them? There are no holes in the leaves, just random leaves are gone from the plants!

What can I do??

Everything where I live LOVES hostas. Slugs, and snails flock to them and the deer adore them. I decided that they're not such great plants after all. WAY too much work to keep them protected from everything!

I've been told that deer love hostas. Not sure about other critters though.

ditto above posters.

I can tell you I used to live in town and there were zero deer and the snails and slugs devoured every little sprout on mine all the time no matter what I did. I ended up giving up! Such a bummer! Maybe bait with a beer trap or try Cory's snail bait or something? Or DE?

I know deer eat my hostas. I see herds of 4-6 cavort on my property from time to time.
