I follow you on the amusement. No worries , butter rolls must be an unusual commodity.

Well, I think I'd go for grass-fed (local) butter first (if possible, because some farms are nearly organic, but just don't have the money/etc to be certified). Then I'd check into the organic. Really I'd be standing there at the counter looking at all the options and prices and budget and pick what I could do best at that moment. Not helpful, I know.

Yeah, i was curious what others would choose at the store, if local was unavailable or out of the price range.

I'll stick with the Organic Valley pastured when available! mmm

What I am curious about is kerry gold 100% grass fed or do they just get some grass or just hay? I make it into kerry gold into ghee and was thinking about switching to Purity Farms Ghee since it is from the US and is 100% grass fed. And it would save me the trouble of making it.

About kerry gold farms, my dh lived on a farm that sold to KG, and they refuse to drink the raw milk since they claim that the father of the farm died from some serious bacteria in the milk. They have bucket loads of milk and still buy it from the store.

And if the cows are getting some grain, like during milking, it is non gmo grain? If it was GMO, then that rules out the butter completely for me.

Oh, as a KerryGold person with not great local options, this thread SO depresses me. *sigh* But I *look* at Kerrygold, and it looks better than my other options, which are stark white... at least to my eyes it looks better but I know that is not informative about what is in it, what the cows ate. Tastes better too.

I can get raw milk butter but it is PRICEY... I might get some to try it though... $13/lb.
