IGT/Hypoplasia mamas: did goat's rue work for you?

Hi there,
DD is 6mo. and I have IGT/breast hypoplasia. Currently I make approximately 8-10oz. per day. I am on fenugreek, blessed thistle, domperidone, and metformin (prescribed by a lactation doc). I have been reading about goat's rue increasing glandular tissue. Did it work for you? It's a little expensive and I'm not sure if it's worth adding another supplement to my regime.

Thanks,
Beth

Beth,

I took goat's rue while I was nursing my DD and I did experience an increase in supply, but I was also taking lots of other herbs at the same time.

For me personally, the two most effective herbs were goat's rue and alfalfa. They're both really good for moms with IGT and PCOS. I also took domperidone which helped a lot.

Alfalfa is very inexpensive and can be found at just about any health food store. The best price I have found for goat's rue is www.luckyvitamin.com

I am pregnant with #4 and I have IGT. Personally, I LOVE Goat's Rue! For me the Goat's Rue is the most effect herb for increasing milk supply-if I could take only one thing to help with supply it would be Goat's Rue. It can take a couple of weeks to kick in though, so if you are going to try it I would give it a good month before you decide whether it is helping or not. Here is a site that has Goat's Rue for a bit less than the link that BekTens posted:

Also I posted on the other IGT thread a formula for making Goat's Rue tincture yourself, but you would want to let it sit for 3 months before you started taking it.

I just started taking it today and it is hands down the worst thing I have ever tasted. If this ends up working I will be getting it in pill form next time!

Thanks for the link, Cory! I'm always happy to find a better price on herbs.

I had a hard time with the taste, but it's MUCH better if mixed with 2oz of unsweetened cranberry juice. It still tastes yucky, but it doesn't knock the wind out of you!

I also have IGT, nursing my first LO 3 weeks in. I have been taking the goats rue for about 2 weeks and have noticed an increase in my supply, I am also taking other herbs; More Milk Plus, fenugreek caps and recently added Shatavari. But noticed more milk after taking the goats rue, i just ran out of More Milk and will not be buying another (this stuff gets expensive!) but will continue with the goats rue. So the experiment continues! I am going to add alfalfa to the list, its cheap and really good for you.

It does taste nasty, I dilute it in 1oz of water and send it down with the idea no pain no gain and lots of love!

How much does the Domperidone increase supply?
