IgG Results

My daughter just got back her IgG results. She did a blood test where they put the blood on a paper. The test was called "AllerGSpot" and was done through a Canadian company - Rocky Mountain Analytical.

So the report shows a chart going from 0-325.
0-65 = non-reactive
66-90 = Slightly Reactive
over 91 = Reactive

Here are my daughters results (I just put what I thought might be worth posting):
Dairy
American Cheese: 250
Butter: 27
Casein: 93Cheddar: 300
Cottage Cheese: 413
Cows Milk: 314
Goats Milk: 13
Swiss Cheese: 395
Whey: 15
Yogurt: 14

Nuts & Seeds
Gluten: 601 - she has never seen such a high number
Wheat: 601 - again never seen such a high number, the chart only goes up to 325
Peanut: 159
Walnut: 193

Proteins
Egg: 257

All fruits, veggies, seafood and misc were very low. Basically she was either very reactive or non-reactive. Nothing was in between, which again the ND said is not common.

I would love to see what you ladies think. We have been wheat, dairy & egg free for a little under a week now. So far we have found it pretty easy.

Thanks in advance!!

How have the symptoms been during the last week? Some people say that dairy takes a couple weeks to get out of your system, and for gluten some people say 6 weeks to a couple of months, so those ones may take a little longer to see results. But you should start seeing some improvements if the test caught them all.

I'd still be careful with corn. My DD2 didn't react on either of her tests (IgE and intolerance) and it's one of her worst. So not sure how well corn tests out for some reason.

Has she had IgE testing as well? With the peanut and walnut, I'd just want to double check to make sure she wasn't allergic as well. I'm sure you're going to avoid them, but I'd just want to know for sure what I was dealing with.

I have no advice, but was thinking of doing the that specific test, and wondering how accurate it is. A naturopath very close to me uses it.

Do the results make sense to you, as far as what you've noticed her reacting to in the past? Does it seem like a worthwhile test?

Right now I can't say how accurate it seems, other then that I have had a feeling she might be sensitive to wheat and dairy... but mostly because those are fairly common.

So far I don't see any noticeable differences although she hasn't complained of any tummy aches in a while. Also she was really focused in her ballet class I teach... she was really like a different student.

Her main red flag was rashes... she ALWAYS had a rash of some sort. Right now I have been very diligent about cream, so I think the real test will be when I stop putting it on and we see what happens.

I know my ND said this is a fairly new test (not sure if she meant to her or in general) but that she has found it to be very accurate. That said I have seen one by US Biotek and they test IgE, IgG, and IgA. It seemed really good but it might not be available here in Canada?!

I pray we don't have to remove corn!! It seems like it is used quite a bit in non-gluten recipes!

I was thinking of taking my DD to our ped to have her IgE tested (which would be covered by our provincial healthcare). But then I started thinking that if I have removed all those things she is sensitive to the test could come back with a false negative?!

Another Question for you guys:

I am due in a few days with baby #2 and DD is still nursing, not much right now but I expect and increase when my milk comes in. Does this mean I should remove all those things from my diet too?

she may or may not react through milk, although gluten is proven to pass through bm so that's one point for removal of that one.
many of us have found it necessary to do so, though, fwiw.

Thanks guys!! I figured the answer was yes. I also emailed my ND to see what she says - I forgot to mention that Everly is still nursing.

Have you had her tested for gliadin antibodies? I would consider that.

I had the Biotek IgG test done for my dd. Her symptoms were also rashes and redness around the eyes. She was off the charts for all gluten grains, eggs and pineapple, which is very accurate for her. Dairy was moderate, also accurate. There were a few other mild things that I eliminated for a while and then added back in later in rotation. Her results were also very reactive or non-reactive.

It sounds like your dd needs a paleo-style diet for a while. Meat, veggies, fruit, nuts. Maybe the occasional GF grain or tuber/starch. It is a very healing diet, although it can get expensive. But it is super easy. Meat/veggies for meals and fruit/nuts for snacks.

You could try enzymes if you haven't already. Also probiotic foods/supps. I think gluten messes up the system so much and impairs digestion, leading to leaky gut and then all hell breaks loose with the immunse system. The key is healing the intestinal tract and then when the system has calmed down you can try adding stuff back in. With results like that though, you should consider keeping gluten, dairy and eggs out for a long, long time.

Not at all a concern with IgE allergies, they hang around for a long time.
