Gucio shoes are expensive, but we thought they were worth it. But DD never wore shoes at all until she started wanting to walk out-of-doors.

If you're looking for shoes for a pre-walker, I'll second lookatreestar.

i mostly buy second-hand shoes, so i buy whatever's available!

but by far, Robeez are the BEST SHOES!!! can't even say how much i love them for ALL stages. great for indoors AND outdoors, great for summer and winter (with socks), and uber great for newborns

It's almost summer here. Our babe walks barefoot inside and outside For the winter we'll have to see how well he walks, but I imagine we'll have to get some booties for the ice and snow.

we've used robeez (or knock off ones) and LOVE them for indoors and out. our son is about to start walking and a friend showed me this brand, which are INCREDIBLY AWESOME. the soles are soooo flexible, and the leather is the softest stuff imaginable. apparently they wear well and last through many children. they are too pricey for us ($36-$50), but we only want one pair so my parents are going to get them for his birthday.

if you're lo is starting to walk, something with a more solid platform than robeez is a good idea, but it should still have a really flexible sole. my mom bought dd a pair of the old school white stride rites and even though they're supposed to be the most appropriate first shoe dd can't crawl or walk well in them. they're too stiff and bulky. we just got a pair of see kai run shoes which are awesome! they're more supportive than the robeez and grippy but soft and flexible.

a friend said umi is great too.

Same here. Barefoot walking helps babies (and children and adults) develop strength, flexibility and balance. It should be encouraged as much as possible.

Because we are vegan, I bought Isabooties instead of Robeez. They are cute and durable.

I have one pair of new Robeez 1st steps for church. Otherwise all my other shoes are second hand from a friend and a swap shop. He goes through his shoes so fast I just don't see the point of getting new ones all the time, unless it's for church. I size up on the nice ones so they last longer.

We also use Robeez, but since it is summer, we are going barefoot now.
