Ways to prevent being GBS positive?

I was group B strep positive last pregnancy and do not want to deal with that again. Is there anything I can do or use to prevent being group B strep positive this time?

I did the majority of these last pregnancy:

I did not do the tea tree oil tampon, colloidal silver or use Hibiclens however.

I drank Bio K every day and used raw garlic clove suppositories. My MW told me that a rectal suppository is more effective than vaginal so I tried that. It was beyond gross though so switched to vaginal after a few days. The crazy thing is that you can taste the garlic in your mouth moments after insertion. I haaaate garlic so was totally miserable, couldn't sleep because of the smell/taste, etc... I didn't have time to be retested so I don't know if the treatment was effective.

This time I'll be more proactive in advance. I'll try more of ideas on that ehow list posted above (thanks!) and will request to be tested sooner than 37 weeks so, if I'm positive, I'll have time to treat more aggressively and be retested before birth. I won't be touching garlic again though and will just have to hope that TTO tampons are effective.

Good luck!

PS My son's head smelled like garlic when he was born!!!!

I went with a friend recently to her midwife appointment. The midwife said that since they started encouraging probiotics with their patients the incidence of positives has gone waaay down.

Not sure if what I did worked or if it was random- but I was positive last time, like you, and desperate to be negative this time! I did nothing but a hibiclens douche the day before and the morning of the swab. My results came back negative. This is a good site with a lot more info: http://mountainviewmidwives.com/group_b_strep.html
