+ OPK after ovulation

Why would this happen?
Or does it not happen?

Every chart I've seen shows LH dropping rapidly at or right before O.

I'm tired of overridding FF, and I assume I O on the last day of + OPK (I get 3-4 days of +s for whatever reason, but I also test a few times a day so someone testing just once might not see that many).

I'm not saying I know more than FF I just don't understand why they would say I Od and then I go on to have 2 more days of + OPKs (which is in my FF chart).

idk. i think you've likely not o'd yet though. look at my charts- i dip down and then go up to 97.7/97.8 the day before i o. how's your cp/cm today? it could be your current batch of opks is a little extra sensitive too.

My peak of ewcm was sunday, a crazy amount. I had a very dark negative (but definately not positive) in the morning and did not test again that day. Monday morning I had a dark positive. VERY dark positives yesterday and today I had another positive but not as dark as yesdterday. I feel like my CM is starting to get creamy.


If you can see my past charts, I am a slow riser but overridding O is annoying. Last month when using advanced it put my O date on the day of the first + OPK and I overrode to the third. The only reason it matters is because I'm lucky to have 1 BD in the fertile window and I'm always O-2 which I don't think is that great...

My temps do seem to start rising before O...I don't know why.

Another question, I'm using $ tree OPKs.
Anyone know what the threshold is for them?
And what the normal LH value would be at peak?
I'm wondering if maybe my lh gets really high which would explain the long + OPKs.
I like using them, but I'm finding them really stressful and frustrating lately.

finnegansmom- i don't know why but it happens with me as well. i tend to have + for 2-3 days sometimes. what brand are you using? i have used sfo, wondfo and babywishes with similar results. I also am a slow riser which sucks. i'd prefer a clear abrupt shift to avoid the ambiguity that haunts me in the 2ww. I hope it gets obvious for you! Any particular reason to assume O happens on the 3rd + opk? What i have heard is that O happens 8-48 hours after the 1st + and we can't know for sure which exact day it's on. Following FAM guidelines, I just know that O is usually on the Peak day CF or the day after. Peak meaning the last day of EWCF, not necc. the greatest amount. Not sure how familiar this is for you, so that's why i mention it. Maybe you already know all this?

When i used the Persona monitor (which does OPK tests to see when you're O'ing and uses that information in combination with other stuff to help you conceive or avoid and is 94% effective) i remember it saying that only the first +ve is relevant. You O 12-36 hours after the surge, which is the first +ve, the other +ve's aren't relevant because they only tell you how fast your body processes the hormone once it's been released. A bit like a weak +ve HPT is still a +ve and doesn't usually "mean" anything about the baby or pregnancy.

I'm not super familiar with FAM.

For instance my april cycle - as it looks in FF, I overrode to use the OPK method of detecting O. It will choose the LAST positive day of OPK.
When I change it to advance, it chooses the first day. Probably because of the temp rise before O.
When I change FF to OPK today, it gives me today as Ovulation.

I had always thought that you LH builds to a peak and ovulation occurs after the PEAK. Now, OPKs only detect a surge (not the PEAK). So if I peak at 70 and my opk detects LH anything over 30 I may see it positive for a while. I also thought from the charts I've seen, that LH builds a lot slower than it drops off. the drop offs seem sharp, but maybe I'm totally wrong. I guess that's why I always keep testing, to see the end of the surge....

Am I just making things too complicated? I never know to trust my CM, OPk, temps, oy vey.

OK thanks. So from this, I could see a + OPK the day after ovulation? Just because my body hasn't processed it out yet?

That is my understanding yes. I get +ve's for 3-4 days most cycles. Last time i conceived (i'm 38+1weeks today) i got a surge late on Monday night, and the sticks continued to read positive until Thursday (i tested at 1pm every day after Monday - only tested Monday because of my EWCM which seemed peak to me). From ovulation pain and my general "feel" of my body (i used Billings for 2 years before the persona) i thought i'd ovulated on Tuesday. We only had sex on the Monday. Scans date the baby to tuesday, the tech was so shocked at my accuracy she suggested "billings" for a middle name

I think basically the hormone is produced all the time, but surges for about 24 hours a cycle, and every individual will have a different threshold when that makes ovulation occur, but the levels drop off after the surge at varying rates. So if i were you i'd count my first +ve as the one to focus on. Most kits tell you you can stop testing once you see a +ve - does yours not?

peeonastick doesnt have a sensitivity for dollar tests listed.

re: your last month's chart, my guess on that one would have been cd15. on this month's, why the discarded temp on cd7? my guess would be your coverline may be like 97.8 and you will probably see your temp above that tomorrow-ish.

oh, i meant to say too, i do like the $tree opks. this month, i got some new ic's from amazon. in the picture online, they were green handles, but when they came they had pink handles. i started taking them early and they were dark-ish negatives, and they stayed that way the whole time for like 5 days, no matter what time of day i took them or how dilute my pee was, they were all EXACTLY the same. i emailed the company to make sure they were really opks and i wasnt testing for something else, and they said, yep, they were. so i went to the dollar tree and picked up some. tested pink handle and dollar tree from same pee. pink handle was the same darkish, dollar tree had nothing almost. hmmmm. but the next day, both were blaring positives. long story for no real reason but to share, but i guess the moral is, i do like dollar tree opks, i think they do a good job, and i dont think their threshold is too low, but you might have a testy batch, could happen.

and also, for me, i like to take them until they are negative, because it has always worked out, for me, that i o on the first day of the negative, whether i've had 1 or 2 days of pos.

Because temps are the primary indocator of O and the OPKs are just confusing the issue, i would trash the OPKs and stick with the temps and CM. (You can also have an LH surge and not O, and it isn't pinpointing anything when you get a positive, only that you *should* ovulate within the next 48 hrs). I also don't think you have enough temps to give the most accurate coverline so maybe concentrating more on those would be better? just my opinion. I think today looks like O day given the dry up and temp on its way up (and even the pos OPK), but only time will tell right?
