Evap lines

Are IC know for evap lines and if so what do they look like? Yes, I made the mistake of digging yesterdays test from the garbage I think I threw it away before 10 minutes were up because after staring at it for awhile it was still as white as can be. The line is pretty dark, so just wondering if evaps can be pretty dark. Of course I dug the test out right after I had just peed so no more pee left right now to go pee on another test. Anyone have a pic of what an evap usually looks like? I'm totally freaking out here!!

step away from the trashcan!

just take another test. it only takes a couple drops, i bet you can squeeze that out in a few minutes time. ic's are not known for evaps...buuuut if it's after the time limit, who knows. peeonastick.com is a good resource for info on tests, if you havent looked there before.

I've had pink evaps and grey evaps and some have been pretty convincing.
They can be thin lines or thick lines....and look like a BFP in some cases.
Anything after 10 minutes should be discarded and anything in yesterday's trash should definately be left in the trash. LOL.

I'd restest mama. Good luck!

Thanks, Karma! I've never done that before, so I have NO idea what made me go digging in the garbage. Another reason I think it might be an evap is I was only 11-12 dpo yesterday (according to opk's) and I've never had a BFP before 14 dpo. I know there can be a first time for everything though I'll try to squeeze a few drops out before I leave in 20 minutes.

Thanks, Michelle. I'm really thinking that's what it is, but will retest in a bit. (hopefully I can get some pee out )

Okay, it's an evap! Just tested again, waited the full 10 minutes and BFN! Learned my lesson! AF is due today, just waiting!

I'm sorry.

I get into the bad habit of saving tests sometimes.....just makes me sad though to see a maybe line and then get AF a few hours later.

Okay, maybe I didn't QUITE learn my lesson (but at least I wasn't digging in the garbage again ) Right after I posted and as I was rushing out the door, I ran back into the bathroom where I'd left the test on the counter and there was the faintest line. Got home a bit ago, and the test is much darker like the one from yesterday. THEN I decide to POAS again (let me just say I am not usually a poas addict at all!!) and started timing. Right at 12 minutes I saw the FAINTEST squinter!! Would 2 minutes past the time limit still be considered an evap? I know, I know, I should just wait a few days and test again if AF hasn't showed, but I'm soooo impatient right now and have butterflies in my stomach thinking about it I just may go buy a frer for tomorrow morning. Are those much more sensitive than IC's?

here's an evap pic. it showed up in about 6 minutes- this pic was taken about 10 minutes post-pee. It's not where a real line should be but it had my heart skipping beats all day! It's on a Dollar Tree test which are notorious for evap lines and having shadows and indents where a line should be.

I would get a frer... I really only trust those.

i would get a frer. and if you aren't sure, as soon as it's dry, hold the back of the test right on a lightbulb and the window lights up- if there's anything there you will see it.

That's not quite the best advice... I wouldn't trust a line held against a lightbulb at all because you can see the antibody strip better that way as well. I think Mae even recently posted a picture that she did a 'test' with 100% pee, 50% pee, 25% pee, barely any pee and water or something like that and there was quite the line on the water one held up against a lightbulb. Just saying

im not sure about how mae did that test. i want to say she used the same cup that she had peed in and washed, and so i might not trust that with her having hundreds of thousands of mlu in her urine at that point, although i dont remember exactly. i do remember her saying the test was wet. but i have tried it, and it works great! if it's a bfn, you dont see anathin.

Seriously im not that ignorant to try it in the same cup... the water one was straight out of the faucet onto the strip and never touched the other tests and even I was shocked by the bright pink line after holding it up to the light.

Went and bought a frer as soon as I dropped older kids off at school. After 1minute a nice dark I really had a feeling i was especially once AF didn't show yesterday. I'm usually like clockwork.

I don't even see the evap line in the link (btw, thanks for posting that, Courtney) Mine were just as dark and pink as the frer. (just took HOURS to get like that)

btw what brand were you using? I had horribly light lines on my ICs (that didnt get darker) for 2 days before getting my bfp on FRER... some were convincing some were convincing that they were bfn

Thanks!

Maeryn, not sure of the brand, they were from babywishes.org Oh wait, just checked and it says EZ pregnancy tests. Not sure if that's the brand though.
