Right, but my point wasn't that older kids need those explanations, but rather that I even give them to older kids. If my dd happens to start reading on her own when she still as a preschooler's grasp of justice/right/wrong, then I'll vet her books accordingly.

I expect most kids who can read by themselves are old enough to get "the moral of the story" messages.

The episode I saw was when Swiper was trying to swipe some cookies that Dora was delivering across the desert, and when they got to the end they realized that they had an extra cookie so they called Swiper over and gave him the extra one.

I thought it was kind of cool, myself.

My main problem with Spongebob is that it feels like I need to be totally high to appreciate it. Like, it was just so trippy and nonsensical that it required some, ummmm.... chemical supplementation to make any sense at all. Ugh. I'm too old for that crap.

I like Sesame Street probably better than my kid, though.

Well then, I won't have a heart attack if dd decides she'd like to see an episode when she's that age. Sounds like there's quite a range with them and I just managed to hit a bad example.
