High BP in very early pregnancy (no history of HBP) **Updated in original post**

Hi mamas,

I recently had a m/c at 9 weeks and this is when I found out that my BP was really high. After monitoring it at home, this is what I found...

Tues 130/97 (finally passed placenta in eve 4 days after m/c),
Wed 140/90
Thurs 125/75
Today 100/68

There's definitely a downward trend here as my HCG was dropping, which makes me think it's no coincidence and it's related to pregnancy. I never had a problem with HBP in early pregnancy and just slightly elevated at term (135/82).

I would love some ideas as to why this happened. My dd is 20 months and my pregnancy with her went well, as did my BP.

We're going to TTC again probably after my first period. I’m dieting for weight loss and will start brewer’s diet Monday. My gallbladder tends to go beserk when pregnant, so I’m also going to start milk thistle and dandelion. I can’t think of anything else to prepare for the next TTC. I want to do this one right, so if you mamas can think of anything else to try, please let me know.

I had high essential BP with DD, and it turned out to be undiagnosed hypothyroidism. Worth a blood test to check your thyroid levels?

Also, as was already pointed out, you are being checked while dealing with anxiety... which raises your blood pressure (if only for a short period, your BP would be higher while at the doctor dealing with the miscarriage than it would be at home where you can relax and get your mind off of it)

Thanks, mamas! I'll get that test.

Normally, the whole white coat BP syndrome stands true for me ; however, this particular doc actually soothes me. He's an amazing, compassionate, kick-bootie OB (and I normally don't like docs) and I was relaxed. I was hoping it was stress, but these headaches have been severe and don't respond to meds. I'm going to my old MW to monitor my BP for several days to see what happens. I really just feel awful.

I really need to troubleshoot. If it is hormone related, I sure want to figure out how to avoid it the next time. Nothing worse that high BP when pregnant and all that goes with it. The next (hopefully) will be a VBAC, so gotta be healthy for that ).
