I hope this is the right place to post this. DS and I are flying together to Greece in 2 months. At first, I thought it would be more convenient to wear him during airplane changes etc but he's getting pretty heavy and I'm not good at putting him on my back instead of the front. So I thought in addition to the ergo, to bring a stroller with me. What kind have you used with success? Do you have any idea what requirements different airlines have? What's your experience? Thanks mamas!

I would take the baby and try out a couple light weight and midweight strollers. If you get one the baby isn't comfortable with it will not work at all. But since your baby is almost a year a lightweight stroller would be fine. I just remember trying to get my 6 month old to ride in a stroller now and again and he hated his jogger, all lightweight, and only liked the Graco midweight stroller.

Try craigslist for a lightweight, small stroller. I would say NOT a $25 umbrella stroller from walmart. Those things will kill your back unless you're about 4'10". If it folds up really well then you have a chance of them letting you bring it in the cabin with you. Maclaren are really good but pricey new.

You can take the stroller with you to the gate, leave it just outside the plane in the hall way, they will store it for you, and when you get off the plane, it will be there waiting for you, along with everyone elses strollers and wheel chairs. It is really handy, especially since you are taking so many flights, you may also have to be walking from one end of the air port to the other. Depending on the country, some security will make you take the baby out of the stroller, or the carrier if you are wearing the baby and send them through the machine, other places you don't have to do that. I've had both experiences, sometimes I think it is just the whim of the security person.

We are planning on doing some european travel fairly soon as well. Because of that we got the Chicco Liteway. (I think that's what it's called?) It's really lightweight, folds down small, has a carrying handle, and is able to lay flat so my baby can take a nap. We've been using it since she was 3 weeks old and she loves it. The only downside is that it has a fairly small basket. Other than that, in my opinion it's perfect. I reccomend it to everybody. Hope you have a great time in greece!

Update: I ended up with a Baby Jogger City Mini. Couldn't resist how easily it folds. So far I love it. It's very easy to fold it with one hand while holding DS. My only worry is that it could get damaged during our flights....*sigh* I can just see my self getting worried sick about everything for this flight, since I'm flying without hubby. I think I'm scared of all the things that could go wrong
