For once something decent happens with a credit card...

I wanted to pay my credit card bill (yup, slowly paying it off) but couldn't find the bill itself, so called their 800-number to ask. I know that normally when you call, they try to sell you a bunch of annoying things like "protection" programs (which I never join), but I actually got a cool lady on the phone who was down to earth, and she ended up telling me that I'd accumulated money from their "Cash Back" program... which I didn't even know I'd been a part of! Anyway, she asked if I'd like it mailed out, or if I want to keep the amount there for now. Hey, mail it! So they're sending me a check for something like $78... not so bad considering I was not expecting it! (And yes, I know with their horrid fees that's the least they should do, but I was still surprised.)

That also made me wonder if my other credit card had something like that; I called and they said I can accumulate points but nothing like the cash back thing; so no such luck there, but.... it's worth at least asking if you've accumulated cash... I had no idea!

We have a card that accumulates points that you can turn in for gift cards or cash. It is dh's business card and I always get gift cards and give them out for Christmas.

I always use the points from my Visa to get $25 Amazon gift cards. They help subsidize my Kindle habit.

Me too! --- But for some reason, maybe the new cc laws, this information was on my statement and it hadn't ever been there. I got a check for $150! It was perfect timing too, as that month was really tight.

Ahh, I hadn't thought of that; perhaps the new laws require that they tell us about accumulated cash, etc. They sure as heck never mentioned it before! (Like I said, I didn't even know I was in this program!) But hey, I'll take it.
