Naomi was born after almost 27 hours of labor (3.5 of pushing her out with a nuchal arm), in our bathroom! I got my HBAC, and am over the moon with happiness.

She was born on April 25, 4 days before her due date, at 7lb 4oz and 20".

She is the most mellow baby - I can actually put her down (OMG), she doesn't seem to be sensitive to anything I'm eating (OMG) and she has been an incredible nurser from the start (OMG). Her brother adores her, and he's still my high-needs child, driving me nuts.

I am feeling so healed by this birth - I feel great physically and emotionally I feel like I'm ready for anything that comes my way.

....which is good, because we just got thrush. But hey, birth rocked, my little daughter rocks, and life is good, right?

I love reading all of these! Thanks so much for the recap, it makes strolling around the DDC easier to do. I realized that I hadn't given my own real recap, so here you go!

Nina was born on 4/9 after over 24 hours of s-l-o-w labor and six hours of pushing against an anterior lip (which did not get swollen). We transferred to the hospital for fluid, and I gave birth in lithotomy (my choice) but it was a fabulous, healing experience and I went home 36 hours later. She had three loops of cord around her neck AND a true knot! Also, I thought I saw a penis, so I told everyone it was a boy, and nobody checked until we put her on the scale 20 minutes later. Oops!

She nurses great and is growing like a weed (I'm already looking at 6mo clothes for her, and she's only 6 weeks old!). Daddy is in LOVE and after a short period of jealousy, Big Brother loves her too. You can see pictures here: http://s51.photobucket.com/albums/f376/aylaanne/Nynaeve

I have to go back to work on June 6, and I start classes again on June 8, so my babymoon has been terribly short, but I'm ready to be busy again. I got my grades back, and missing a week of school to have a baby really only hurt me in one class out of four, so that's awesome.

N slept through some of my in-class exams, but was awake through others, so I didn't risk it and got sitters for my finals. She took a bottle of expressed milk, and it was so much easier to focus without having to worry about her.

I had Z on 4/28 (11 days "late"), 6lb 13oz, 19.75 inches long. Much smaller than I expected!
Labor was only "active" for 5 or 6 hours, but I had fairly easy contractions steadily for a day and a half before the "active" bit kicked in.
She wants to nurse almost all the time when she's awake, and my nipples get mad about that from time to time. I'm starting to think there might be some thrush going on?

We're going to a nursing group today.
Aww, I appreciate it! Your nipples getting mad may not be thrush, it may just be irritation. My nipples get sore from time to time, mostly in the evening after I've had her on my boob for hours on end. Then DS wants his turn to nurse, and it just adds insult to injury.

N is clicky sometimes at latch, too, usually when I let down. I think that my flow is a little intense for her, and it causes her to swallow a lot of air and have a lot of reflux. When the flow is less intense she has fewer problems. I sit her up in front of me to nurse, and that helps her as well.

Yeah, DS had some serious anger issues at first, too. He punched her in the head, once, but now he's all, "Hold you baby?" and loving.

Have you tried the waking-him-up-every-hour-to-nurse trick? When I do that with N, we get more sleep at night.

Even though I didn't get to have my HBAC, my VBAC itself has been wonderfully healing for me. I totally know what you mean.

Loving the recaps, ladies, keep them coming!

Leila Seraphina was born April 7th @ 1:30am... labor was fast! I went in to the hospital at 11:30pm because I thought I might be going into labor (I really didn't think I was in labor as my contractions were so mild I had to concentrate to feel them! had been having those for a few hours) they had me go to the bathroom before hooking me up to the monitors in traige, my water broke as I was finishing up in the bathroom, so they admitted me. Contractions weren't showing up on the monitor and there wasn't a bed in L&D so I had to stay in triage for an hour... contractions got a bit more painful, but I was still laughing!
At 12:30am I got a bed in L&D... they checked me, I was 6cm... so I got in the tub and labored there until 1:20am when I started feeling pressure (and the water was getting cold) took a while to get out of the tub because the contactions were back to back... ran over to the bed and they checked me... 9cm... 30 seconds later I had a contraction that went "I'm feeling a lot of pressure... I need to push... I'm pushing" 1 minute later Leila was born!

I recovered really fast... 2weeks out I felt pretty much back to normal.
I had some issues with retaining some placenta, but thankfully it resolved itself, Leila developed a bad latch on day 2 and I got with split bleeding nipples and ended up pumping for nearly a week so they could heal.
Once they did and Leila was less groggy from the jaundice her latch was great and continues to be great at almost 7 weeks old.
My husband deployed when she was 2 weeks old, which has been hard on me and my toddler, but we're managing... luckily Leila's a prety relaxed baby and sleeps well most nights!
My DD is also really good with her, and thankfully thinks she's "too heavy" to pick up! lol
strangely enough I didn't develope PPD this time (it was mild with DD, but I figured with everything going on i'd get it again) so that's been nice to not have crazy thoughts again! guess my brain decided I had enough going on already lol

Leila started smiling last week which is so awesome! I love it in the morning when I wake up and look at her and get a big smile, or when DD talks to her and L gives he big smiles and coo's!

Lysander was born 4/25 by c-section after an attempted vbac. His head was asynclitic, my uterus was stretched to capacity, and after 13 hours of labor and EXCRUCIATING pain, I was only at 6cm. I went to the hospital for pain relief, and the surgeon said no to vbac, but my MW told me later that she didn't think I would have had a natural birth given the head position and the amount of pain. Anyway, after reading the notes from the surgery, I think a c/s was the only choice to get little L into the world safely.

He nursed for five hours after we got out of recovery. He sleeps a lot and has gained 3.5 pounds in 30 days. He loves to smile and loves to sleep on me or next to me. He has a sweet temperament.

Mercy was born on 5/11, achieving the Bronze Birth Stool award. Didn't know there wer bronze and silver awards? That could be because I just made it up

She was born at home during an absolutely brutal 30 minute labor with tetanic contractions, followed by 15 minutes trying not to deliver before our midwife arrived. 5 minutes before birth, we had a probable placental abruption. We had an emergency transfer for my daughter after her birth, followed by an infuriating and traumatic 10 day NICU stay.

We're home now, doing well, and trying to adjust to normal life.
