Really push potty learning for preschool? - Page 2

We're in a very similar situation with my son. I was feeling very relaxed about him skipping preschool next year--I'm in no rush for him to go. However, he recently has seemed like he is really craving more structured activity and more interaction with other kids. He does get a lot of that at home, but I think he would love the two day a week preschool we found for him. I don't want him to miss out on what I think would be a really positive, fun experience for him. He is not at all interested in the potty, but I think he would probably get it quickly if we made it a bit more of a focus. No way do I want to turn it into a battle or a struggle, but I think I'll make an attempt to see if he can be out of diapers by September.

is-it really bad to bribe by offering one mini M&Ms for every time the child pees or poops in the potty ?

my youngest is past 3 now and needs to be potty learned by September for kindergarten so I decided last night to start a 3 days at home naked bottom time (tried underwear a few hours back shortly before we had an un-expected visitor and sure enough she peed in them)

so far, no accident on the carpet, a little trickle in one of the bedroom (easy too clean flooring) and 5 or 6 pee in the potty = one mini M&M each

I can see that we might have an issue as the day progresses with pooping without a diapper on though ....

looking for ideas and suggestions ....

We did "incentives"
1 chocolate chip for a "try" ( sitting but not peeing or pooping)
2 m&m's for a pee ( 4 M&M's if you go on your own without prompting)
1 hershy kiss for a poop

Pee and poop 2 mm & hershey kiss.

Candy was a rare thing so it worked like a charm along with naked week.

Im in the camp of what does leaving a child in diapers that can do it. Mine had SUCH a huge sense of accomplishment when they were done. "We" told everyone ( cashier at grocery story, Walmart, Toys R Us. Sunday school etc)
I remember the older lady at the grocery store with DS2 He was so tickled he didnt wear diapers he told her and she gave him like 10 paid stickers for his arms. little things are such a big deal at 2
